Not sure how I feel about this. Excited, yet worried at the same time.

i bet ty have a dual analogue version of skyward sword ported in hd being shown. I think they will still have SKyward Sword as a wii game, but i bet it has a day one hd port on cafe.

@Scrawnton

That wouldn't make any sense. The game is entirely designed around Motion Plus.

@Scrawnton Doubt it, since they have been pretty much pimping the motion controls as the main reason this game exists. Now, what they may have is a motion controlled Wii 2 version...

...because I still think the motion controller will be the "main" controller of Wii 2.

Fantastic. 2012 is the right time.

I'm a bit surprised that they will have the console in playable form by E3, though. Isn't it too early considering how secretive they are? Maybe they will aim for early 2012.

This is just me, but I think it would be foolish not to give Square Enix precisely A BUTTLOAD of money (in a dump truck) to move DQ10 to the Cafe. Quite literally there is nothing that they could do bigger or for a bigger bang for their buck.

It won't happen, but man... If it did...

@Whiffleboy

Congrats on the engagement!

I can't imagine Orbital's happy about this news. I am. I'm glad Nintendo is catching the sleeping giants flat-footed. Oddly enough, they feel like they won this generation when they got demolished, and they're trying to drag this generation out longer than it should be. They're trying their best to fight for that silver. Go, fellas!

@-JKR-

How about pimp backwards compatability for the Cafe? Why not list it as available for Cafe and Wii prominently at the end of (or maybe even the beginning of?) a massive ad campaign? That could attach the Cafe name to DQ 10 just as effectively.

Why, with backwards compatability, couldn't they just release the Wii version? You can use Wii controllers (rumored) with the Cafe, after all.

@-JKR-

That would be pretty perfect to ensure early success. The difference in power between Wii and Cafe is likely to be pretty substantial, though, so they'd definitely have to beef up the graphics.

@-JKR- I'm not sure SE would do that though. They are pretty vocal about putting DQ on platforms with an established marketshare.

So is this the new Cafe thread? Because this seems sort of likely but actually not really.

@Secret_Tunnel

It would seem weird to me if Cafe didn't have Friend Codes after 3DS kept them around. They'd already had all the backlash by that point, what would have changed between now and then?

Then again, if Cafe really is going hard for the core, they might feel like they can get away with no friend codes on a system that isn't as catered to the younger or more casual crowd like 3DS is. (Of course, younger kids seem to care more about things being hardcore than anyone else)

@Jargon
The 3DS has a single, unified system code. Friend codes per game are a thing of the past.

@Jargon

It's the principle of it. If I want to call you on my iPhone, I need your phone number. We're used to having to deal with numbers for portable devices. But if I want to look you up on Negative World, all I need is your username. I think people view online communication between handhelds as more of a direct, personal thing, whereas online communication between consoles and computers should be more of a hub.

@Deerock69

I know, but that link Secret Tunnel provided says that on Cafe, Friend Codes are completely dead.

@Secret_Tunnel

Mayhaps.

@Secret_Tunnel

The analogy doesn't quite work, friend codes would be like phone numbers if in order to call you, I had to enter your number, and I had to enter yours.

@Guillaume

True. Either way, gamers seem to care about online play a lot more on consoles than on handhelds, and if there are still friend codes there's going to be a huge backlash.

@Secret_Tunnel Still, wouldn't you think if they were moving away from that they would have with 3DS? I'm not sure if Nintendo worries overmuch about backlash. They're still worried about child predators or something.

@Zero

It's easier for parents to monitor their kids on a console than if the kid has their own 3DS. All Nintendo needs to do is put in some parental controls.

@Secret_Tunnel They could put in parental controls on a handheld too. I think their main concern is still, in the end, that they don't want "strangers" adding kids directly through the console system. Kind of silly since there are a million other ways strangers can add kids, but yeah.
