Nintendo Unveils Heroes, Mystery and Motion in Second-Quarter Video Game Lineup
Roster Includes The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D with Master Quest, Mystery Case Files: Dust to Dust and Wii Play: Motion with Wii Remote Plus

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nintendo of America today revealed a diverse lineup of new video games set to launch during the second quarter of 2011. Whether they’re playing at home on the Wii™ system, having fun on the go with the Nintendo DS™ family of systems or discovering the new Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system, consumers will have a wide variety of engaging, inclusive experiences to choose from as Nintendo and its publishing partners unleash more than 50 games in the coming months.

“Games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Wii Play: Motion offer exciting additions to some of Nintendo’s most popular franchises, while our third-party partners continue to provide blockbuster gaming experiences for Nintendo systems.”

A June 19 launch date has been set for The Legend of Zelda™: Ocarina of Time™ 3D, a re-mastered edition of one of the most acclaimed installments in The Legend of Zelda series, created exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS system. Wii owners, meanwhile, can look forward to the June 13 launch of Wii Play™: Motion, which includes 12 new motion-controlled games and will be packaged with a black Wii Remote™ Plus controller. Upcoming games also include Mystery Case Files™: Dust to Dust™ for the Wii system, which combines the seek-and-solve fun of the puzzle-based series with adventuresome story elements, multiplayer modes and the intuitive motion control of the Wii Remote™ controller.

“Following a tremendous launch for Nintendo 3DS, our roster of upcoming games for Wii and all of our hand-held systems will keep the momentum going strong into summer,” said Marc Franklin, Nintendo of America’s director of Public Relations. “Games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Wii Play: Motion offer exciting additions to some of Nintendo’s most popular franchises, while our third-party partners continue to provide blockbuster gaming experiences for Nintendo systems.”

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D brings a completely re-mastered version of an epic entry in the beloved The Legend of Zelda game series to Nintendo’s newest hand-held system, Nintendo 3DS. The game couples phenomenally enhanced graphics with stunning, glasses-free 3D visuals to bring to life the daring adventures of its hero, Link™. A streamlined touch-screen interface and newly implemented motion controls provide a fresh and intuitive feel as players immerse themselves in the tale of the creation of Hyrule and the struggle for control of its all-powerful ancient relic. The game will also feature new challenges not included in the original game. The Legend of Zelda veterans can look forward to the Master Quest – a second quest with revamped puzzles and redesigned dungeons that feature the same graphical and interface upgrades as the main game. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is a masterful improvement on one of the landmark releases in video game history.

With the June 13 launch of Wii Play: Motion, Wii owners will be twisting, turning and enjoying themselves like never before, whether they’re newcomers to the console or have already discovered the fun of the popular Wii Play game. From catching a gust of wind by tilting an umbrella to fending off garden pests by swinging a mallet, each of the 12 included games will have players smiling wide as they use their Wii Remote Plus controller (or Wii Remote with Wii MotionPlus™ accessory) in a variety of interesting, sometimes unexpected ways. Wii Play: Motion comes packaged with a Wii Remote Plus controller – which combines the original Wii Remote controller with the precision of Wii MotionPlus – to deliver great value, precise motion control and immersive social fun that anyone in the household can pick up and instantly enjoy.

Mystery Case Files: Dust to Dust brings the intrigue and sleuthing of Big Fish Games’ Mystery Case Files series to the Wii system for the first time. The game transports players to the enigmatic Malgrave Island, where they must hunt for hidden objects and solve puzzles to collect a magically powerful dust scattered across the island. Anyone can delve quickly and easily into the game’s rich seek-and-solve action, using the Wii Remote controller to examine multi-layered hidden-object scenes, locate cleverly concealed items and obtain inventory items that will help to overcome brain-teasing obstacles. Multiplayer features allow players to team up and crack the case together or face off in a competitive hunt for hidden objects. (Additional controllers are required for multiplayer features and are sold separately.) No matter who’s playing, it’ll take sharp eyes and a keen mind to get to the bottom of Mystery Case Files: Dust to Dust.

Third-party publishers will offer a spectacular range of new software for Nintendo systems in the months to come. Among the upcoming games for the Wii console are Konami Digital Entertainment’s Karaoke Revolution Glee: Volume 2 and Disney Interactive Studios’ LEGO® Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game. Nintendo 3DS users can look forward to a May launch for TECMO KOEI’s DEAD OR ALIVE® Dimensions, while Warner Bros. Interactive’s Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters is set to launch simultaneously for Wii, Nintendo 3DS and the Nintendo DS family of systems on June 7.

Why not sign up for a (free) account?

Whoo Zelda! And I'll be grabbing Wii Play Motion, it's a great way to nab my 4th Wiimote. Do they still sell the seperate motion + add-ons? Maybe I should pick one up now to make all 4 of my controllers motion+ capable. Or would Skyward Sword come bundled like WSR did?

Cool! I actually enjoyed Wii Play (though I haven't played it too much), so I'd be interested in checking this out. Plus I don't own a single Motion Plus add-on or standalone remote, so this could be my opportunity to jump in.

I can't believe you de Blob zealots didn't buy de Blob 2!

Did ANYONE here buy it?

Trackmania 2 looks like a safe bet, if it exists at all.

@anandxxx Did it have zealots? I thought de Blob was alright, but I didn't feel the need to play the sequel.

@Zero
Yeah, I think there are definitely some de Blob zealots here. Or at least there used to be.

To anybody that already has a Motion Plus Remote...

Does it actually have "Wii Motion Plus INSIDE" written on the controller?

What JKR said about WM+ sorta makes sense but then that would leave almost zero controller innovations for Wii 2... Which would add credence to the idea of Wii 2 only being a souped up HD Wii, and I'd be very fine with that. I don't need Nintendo to reinvent the wheel with every (other) console. Like, if the point is for many people ot have WM+ then they'd just bundle another one with Wii 2? Or a slightly updated one? That'd kill the point of trying to put one in everyone's hands then.

Just give everyone what they want with Wii 2: better tech, better online, much better third party support which would come with better tech!!

Happy to hear OOT is coming sooner than later, I obviously can't wait for that and I've recently had OOT on my mind, remembering just how amazing it was. It needs another play-through and this will be the perfect excuse.

@-JKR-

You could get the DS version. It's actually pretty fun. Stupid-easy, but fun. It's just an enjoyable, easy-to-play, low-stress kind of game. It's just so happy and colorful, and the music is great. Makes me smile. Check it out, if you want.

@anandxxx

As you can see in my response to JKR, I bought de Blob 2! DS version, of course.

@carlosrox

I think the simple "upgrade" option is pretty much what most of us are expecting.

Think about it.

NES- Shiny new home system far beyond the Atari, Colecovision etc ->
SNES -More powerful version of same.

N64- Shiny newfangled 3D games with analogue control ->
GC- More powerful version of same.

Wii- Revolutionary new motion controls.
Wii2- (Probably) more powerful version of same.

Granted its an oversimplification. But there is a basic pattern (even if it isn't statistically significant ) . We seem to get the big revolutionary stuff every second gen. In between we basically get a refinement of the previous gen.

That's not to say Nintendo probably won't have a few suprises up it's sleeve for Wii 2. But you're right in that I don't think anyone is expecting anything earth-shattering on the scale of the Wii. Unless Nintendo have somehow perfected VR

@auto

Yes, the Wii Remote Plus controllers have that printed on them. It's to distinguish them from the original controller because they're the same size.

Yeah, I've got to admit, it would be tough right now if I hadn't transitioned myself to a handheld gamer primarily. The Wii's lineup is looking Wiik. Here's hoping for a stellar E³ for the little system that could, or its starting to look like a locomotive going over a chasm with a blown-out bridge.

@carlosrox

The clear upgrade to me would be the Nunchuck Plus.

I'd be quite happy if WM+ was the standard controller for Wii 2 so I wouldn't have to shell out for new controllers, but I don't see that happening.

OMFG! Whoopdee fuckindo! Its Wii Play Motion!

Gimme a fucking break! This shit should have been released a friggin year or so ago. I am glad that some of you are excited over this, even if it is just to get a 4th controller.

I'm sure is a good thing Nintendo kept this 2nd quarter lineup quiet for so long. I can see how it would have played out if Nintendo had spilled the bean on this lineup.......

Joe-shmo: Hey, Billy Bob! Are you getting the cool 3DS when its released this spring?

Billy Bob: 3DX?(face_belwildered) Huh? No friggin way! Didn't ya hear Joe-Shmo? I'm getting Wii PLay Motion! Yea! 12 freaking games and a controller with the wii motion plus inside for basically free! Fuck the 3Dx or whatever....plus I'm getting Spongebob Squigglepants and maybe the first Reader Rabbit game! I'm going to Gamestop now and pre-ordering them all. I bet the Xbot and PS3 fanboys are shaking in thier boots now! Huh Joe-Shmo?!

Joe Shmo: :`I

@carlosrox I think there will almost definitely be control innovations in Wii 2 beyond what we have seen with the Wii. Nintendo isn't going to let Sony and Microsoft get ahead there.

@Shadowlink That ignores that 3DS wasn't just a simple upgrade of DS though...

@GameDadGrant Isn't that a completely different game though?

@Shadowlink
Oh don't worry, you don't need to remind me about that, but Nintendo has already hinted that graphics alone won't be enough, especially if they want to continue with their Blue Ocean strategy.

@Jargon
Wouldn't that only put them at Move level then?
