First 3DS advertisement hits North American TV

Have you been wondering just how Nintendo would be able to pull off marketing a device thats main feature can't be shown on TV? Then look no further.



The first advertisment has hit North Amercian TV and I have to say it does a great job of advertising the 3D and AR features without seeming too cheesy. It really is nice to see Nintendo go on a full on marketing blitz for the system much like the Wii at launch, now it would be nice to see them put out the same effort for new game releases.

Oh and while we are at it here is the first Street Fighter IV advertisment

I liked your presentation Warerare! And that's nice they chose that fighting game to represent their concept.

Okay, I'm pretty relieved here. I thought they were just gonna keep showing douche actors pretending to be fascinated by a screen we can't see. But this is pretty good.

I think these ads are definitely not bad. It is difficult to convey 3D on a 2D medium. I think that, if I were Nintendo, I would advertise heavily at the 3D movies that are out there, followed with the tag 'No glasses required'. What a fork in the eye to the 3D movie craze!

Okay, I have to get this off my chest. I have to. It's driven me crazy for years. Every time I hear that DS/3DS/Wii "chime" (at about 31 secs in the second video), this always comes to mind:

Link, my embedding is messed up

It's the same pitch and everything! Whenever I hear the DS (now 3DS) chime, those following four Intel notes play in my head.

...I hate it! It just...aghgh...why did they pick that sound? I don't like being reminded of stuff that isn't stuff I'm currently experiencing. Change the sound, Nintendo! CHANGE IIIIIIT

Okay, totally nit-picking the SSFIV3D commercial, but as a graphic designer, that font choice is driving me crazy. The "5" and "S" look way too similar. I thought it said "3S Playable Characters".
