Ten bucks says this is more viral marketing for Bob's Game. If you've never heard of Bob's Game- well, it's a long story. Long story short, a guy named Bob made a game for the DS. He showed it off, interest built up on the internet, and he was contacted by publishers. He asks Nintendo for a dev kit so he can finish the game- Nintendo never responds. Bob starts an insane 100 Day Protest of Nintendo by locking him in his room. Through the course of the 100 Day Protest he was raided by the police, claimed to be abducted by aliens, and earned the reputation as one of the biggest trolls of all time.
At the end of the 100 Day Protest, Bob revealed that it was a viral ad for Bob's Game, and that "Bob" is a character in the game who deludes himself into thinking he's the greatest game developer of all time. The events of the viral ad mirrored the events that would take place in the game.
But Nintendo still refused to give Bob the dev kit. Bob decided to make the game for PC instead, claiming it would be released on 9/9/09.
Soon after 9/9/09 Bob ran off with Kotaku's Tim Rogers and formed Action Button Entertainment. One and a half years later, Bob's Game still has yet to be released.
So, what do you think? Viral ad? Actual handheld? Pure trolling?
