The Negative World Podcast hits its sophomore slump as a Pandareus confident in his abilities to lead a podcast by himself gets hit with a harsh dose of reality! Hopefully the magic of editing will make it so that no one but the people there (Paleo, Zero and Warerare) will know what really went on on that fateful day.
Before launching into each participant's topic Zero, lord and master of NegativeWorld.org, explains briefly the origins of everyone's favorite Nintendo site/forum, and even hints at future plans for the site. That's exclusive info, folks!
Then we discuss Paleo's excuse to bring up Endless Ocean, educational games and how they could motivate kids to learn more about certain topics, if only those games were of a higher quality! Zero has a lot to say about this topic as well, as teaching kids is his day job! I think that means we can legitimately call ourselves "a panel of expert". No plural.
Zero then asks each person to talk about an overlooked game of their choice. Who picked 999, Deadly Creatures, Retro Game Challenge and Disaster: Day of Crisis? Only one way to find out!
Pandareus thinks it's a good idea to ask to a bunch of people without any actual experience designing games about game difficulty and the challenge of designing games that will satisfy both gaming savants and newcomers. Selectable difficulty levels are all well and good in action games, but what kind of good does that do to Nintendo who primarily makes platformers and adventure games?
We save the best for last as Warerare recounts his day at an even where he was chased by zombies and got to play the 3DS. You are so totally jealous right now. Listen as the three other participants attempt to live vicariously through him by asking him why he looked so damn happy on that photo of him playing Face Raiders.
As usual, the best part of the podcast is when no one has started talking yet and a cool intro tune is playing. There is more where that came from, so why not check it out?
I sent the link to our feed to the guy in charge of the page "Nintendo focused podcasts" on Facebook. He started listening to the first episode, and he likes it!
Actually, I made a bunch of interesting discoveries there, if you need more Nintendo podcasts in your life it may be a good idea to "Like" that page.
@Pandareus Hmm, only 28 people have "liked" that page. Which is fine, any new fans is a good thing, but I almost feel like helping him pimp out his Facebook page a bit. Then again, it's tough enough pimping out the Negative World Facebook page.
Well we only got 21 suscribers to the feed, so I'm not going to spit on some publicity. If you've got a much better place to advertise the podcast, so popular that we've got no reason to even bother with smaller places, by all means, tell me.
I didn't say it was bad! I just meant that it could be better, IE we could help make that page more popular. I posted it on my Facebook to try to get more members.
I have 400 something subscribers on YouTube. But mostly because I uploaded some game soundtracks and shit. I can make a video promoting it, but I doubt they'd care about it. They're not subscribed to me, per se, I don't upload personal videos.
I must have misread your post. I thought you were turning your nose up on that page. "Oh, look at Zero, feeling like NW is too big for a page that has only 28 people liking it!" lol
That's pretty impressive, actually. It's your decision, in the end. Maybe some people would care, but if they're suscribing only for the music, they probably don't want to get "spammed" anyway, I don't know.
Just a thought that maybe one day we can plan a get together of most of the podcast participants just for some casual chatter. Might help with chemistry for future episodes if we didn't only talk for a podcast.
Also, it's o-kah-mi, not Oak-ami, and it's not eye-wata.
Pretty good podcast guys. Really enjoyed listening to this. I think the banter back and forth could be a bit better but the topics were interesting and the discussion was sound. Pandareus did a good job moderating, and sounded clearer than in the first podcast. Warerare sounded like he was on the phone, but it was all understandable.
Phew for some reason I thought it might be me. I know I said Oka-rina a lot and people like to say it Oak-arina. Not really sure of the correct pronounciation.
lol, I know listening to the thing that I pronounced a ton of very simple, very mundane words wrong, though I couldn't come up with an example right now. I guess you guys are sparing me because of the non-native-English-speaker thing?
