A brave crew of experienced message board posters on an incredible journey go beyond the keyboard and dare discuss face to face (not literally).

Listen with amazement as GelatinousEncore, CPA Wei, DrFinkelstein and Pandareus explore topics in a much more superficial way than they would have been in a regular forum thread. But it is being delivered in a newish format that allows you to get your dose of Negative World on the go, therefore is is better. Don't try to stop progress, you won't be able to!

After a musical intro composed by NegativeWorld's lord and master Zero, smile at the ineptitude of Pandareus who foolishly believed that listening to hundreds of podcasts somehow qualified him to host one! Seeing as he basically lives on the boards, you would expect him to be able to describe Negative World better. It's okay, however, as there is no way anyone not already familiar with the board will even hear him. Listen to him clumsily presenting his topic, Wiiware, first claiming that the games are fantastic only to go on about the ways the service is not.

Your eyes will be wide with amazement as you discover the true extent of DrFinkelstein's love for Animal Crossing! Nintendo has broken his heart by releasing a Wii version that lived up to the series' enormous potential, but that hasn't stopped him from coming up with ways to reignite the old flame. Hear him passionately describe them to three other dudes who only bought the GameCube version of the game for the NES classics it contained, or never touched the series at all.

Things get more grave and serious as CPA Wei presents his topic, the end of the Wii's and the DS's livespan. Our crew attempts to answer the question: Is Kirby truly a harbinger of death for a Nintendo home console? Pandareus comes prepared with a list of coming-late-in-the-gen games on past Nintendo consoles, but then forgets to make the point he was getting at. Thankfully the rest of the crew picks up the slack with their insights.

Finally, we prepare to close the podcast the same way Nintendo prepares to put their handhelds to sleep when they've run their course: Pokémon. GelatinousEncore regales us with his tales of playing his imported copy of Pokémon White, and comes up with 5 ways to improve the franchise. The whole crew then comes to the conclusion that there are way more than just five ways to end the stagnation, and seem to agree that they wouldn't be all that hard to implement. Nintendo is being lazy, and we care!

The show ends about as gracefully as it started. Breathe a sigh of relief as Zero's beats signal that the torture is over, but stay tuned for a smerdprise.

I feel like a FUCKSTICK! Why did I not realize it's pronounced PanderEEus?! I always thought it was PanderUS!! OMG! I feel soooo stupid!!

This is so cool, we have a podcast now! Haha!! Awesome!! Will so listen to this!

Once your voices have been heard, they cannot be unheard.

Cool music btw Zero, I like it. Reminds me of Cave Story's sound a bit.

Edit: This podcast will go up 10,000 cool points if I'm ever on it

Oh yeah that's right, I did the music. In the past, I didn't make it specifically for the podcast or anything, just lent it. Although I'm going to have to ramp up music production if they expect new Zero themes for every episode, I only have so many songs finished!

I definitely think we should have an MP3 version with every episode, it sort of makes sense to cover that base since everyone definitely can play MP3s, and then have the better format as well.

@Zero
Wouldn't that be like a dedicated theme? Or if it's not original wouldn't you wanna make one theme rather than a different one for every episode?

LOL @ the end bonus thingy post credits, you guys should do that every time.

@Zero

I think we should just have one theme for the podcast instead of a new song all the time. We should have a theme that identifies with Negative World so whenever anyone hears it, they know where it's from.

I need Simba to confirm if the mp3 version uploaded but it's ready and waiting.

@carlosrox

We do it over at the PK Gaming Podcast too and I know Radio Free Nintendo does it as well. It's just a nice added bonus eh?

@DrFinkelstein

I'm listening to your part of the podcast now. :P

I got hooked on Animal Crossing similarly... I didn't study Japanese or anything, but I saw the commercials for it... and I have no idea why I wanted it, but I had to have it.

Woah...a gaming podcast that didn't have one guy struggling to remind the other 2-3 guys nintendo still exists is pretty eerie.

Yeah I guess one musical theme makes sense. Being a music person though I like the idea of new music as part of a podcast in some form. I had this idea before, for instance, of a video game podcast that had new metal every episode... not really sure if the crossover market is there though.

@Zero
The Weekend Confirmed podcast features a different song each week. I kind of like the idea.

Nice podcast, guys! Some good points all-around; it kept me entertained while I drew tonight's comic.

A few suggestions:

-I don't know if many of you remember the webcomic 2P START, but they had/have a really nice podcast that discusses mostly-Nintendo stuff as well. One of the nifty things they do is have a fairly liberal use of background music throughout. It'd be appropriate and non-intrusive (for instance, for the AC talk, you could simply have some AC music going on in the background, or like when you talk about the island, have Kappa's theme playing. Same with Pokemon, etc). Everyone likes Nintendo music!

-I think most of the voices were slightly fuzzy in terms of additional background noise. There's probably a simple way to clear that up, although it may require getting slightly better mics.

-I always thought it was "Pand - ARR - ee -us."

I'd like to try my hand at recording for one of these if there's another!

GelatinousEncore, CPA Wei, DrFinkelstein and Pandareus

What the Smerd??!

You guys are the best! Great podcast guys. It went really well and I look forward to the next one in the near future. Zero's music was a nice touch.

Thank you so much for the little smerdprise. A great gift! I Couldn't ask for more..

I just converted it to MP3 and I'm about to put it in my iPhone. I'll give it a listen later tonight. By the way, I don't know if it has a logo yet but I'll be using this as a logo in the mean time:

I love this idea about side quests in the pokemon games, like incorporating the stories from the show into it. Very cool idea.

Almost done listening, got about 20 more minutes.

EDIT: OH! And I also love the Gym idea. I would suggest that even if you're not there, people can challenge your gym by going against an A.I. character representation of you.

@sirmastersephiroth

Good call on the icon idea. I've changed it personally and in future episodes I touch I'll put it as that.

@TriforceBun

Interesting idea,... if I ever get time I'll play around with that. It would require more editing time which I don't necessarily always have but it's a neat idea nonetheless.

@sirmastersephiroth

Why did you convert it to MP3? It was done in Apple's own format, your phone should totally play it!

@Smerd

Haha, no problem! Thank DrFink, it was his idea!

@TriforceBun

To be honest, I had no idea how it was pronounced until I said it.
The fuzzy voices could be the mics, but it could also be the low bitrate of the file. And any of the software used (Skype, the recording software, the editing software) could be at fault. But I'll definitely invest in a new headset.

@canonj

Where is that music from, though? From the fans? Public domain? Copyrighted stuff? I would think we should shy away from copyrighted material. I don't know what DrFink thinks of this, but personally I thought that since this is a community podcast, we would use whatever the musically-talented people on NW send us. If Casper, Autokymatic, Heliumsky, etc. sent us something they made, it would certainly be put into rotation.

@Paleo_Orca

It's alright, I skip your part of the PK Gaming podcast too.

Thanks for the kind words and the constructive criticism, guys.

@Pandareus

I've been listening to the whole thing. :P

It's too bad you didn't get to talk about DSiware, I would've also love to hear what you guys would have to say about future 3DSware.

@Simbabbad Awesome. Going to be using the big one now.

Mental lapse on my part. Oh well.

Edit: I substituted the MP3 for the original version and I like the logo provided better. The one from Super Smash Bros. theme.

@Pandareus

I believe the music on the Weekend Confirmed podcast is all user submitted, which is really the best idea and is what you guys should implement.

Also, to improve the sound quality you should make the podcast mono, but keep the bitrate at 64 kbps. By switching to mono, you'll double the quality of the file without increasing the size.

Wow guys! Just finished listening and you were all great! Hopefully this is the first of many and I look forward to the next one.

BTW, awesome music Zero.

@Simbabbad

Yeah, Iwata kind of addressed that in the last Investor's Meeting. He said that in terms of digital content, the interface and environment has to be one where people will be comfortable just window shopping. That's something they aim to do with eShop. It also seems like eShop won't be browser based anymore, to allow for a more fast and fluid experience.
