I really like how they did the hinge on this thing. I know I'm an old DS Fat user and all but having the solid long hinge will prevent what happened to my current one where a small piece broke off. This is a sexy machine and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

I don't really mind how it looks,I would have liked them to change up the design a little bit more though.The D pad seems ok where it is to me,I doubt id be spending too long using it at any time any way.

It means that IGN's info is wrong and people were flipping out over the specs for nothing. Of course, I knew that from the beginning, but now we have proof.

To really answer your question though, I don't see any BC hardware. That means that the DS and DSi are being emulated by the 3DS. It's not possible for the 3DS to do it completely through software (it's not powerful enough), so my guess is that the CPU is emulating it, and it's using a software layer to ensure compatibility with the binaries.

If you're asking me if it's a good or bad thing that they're wrong, then I would say that it's not really determinable at this point. I was given specs by my sources, and can't disclose them, but I will say that my information on the specs never matched with IGN's even when they first publicized it.

In general, I can say that the system is more technically competent than what IGN had people to believe (they probably just had faulty sources, it happens), but the proficiency of the hardware's specs remains to be officially confirmed, so I'm going to have to withhold my comments on that.

Really? I think this forum will be pretty lively at least until a few months after the launch of the 3DS. Actually, then there's GDC and E3. Yeah, there's going to be a lot of activity here for 2011.

EDIT:

There is still a possibility that my sources could be wrong too, so that's why I'm saying that we don't really know for sure if it was an overestimation or underestimation. I have full confidence in my sources, but that isn't a 100% guarantee.

Of course, if we consider the supposition, then yes, IGN underestimated the hardware.
