The Last Story to feature 6 player online competitive and co-op play

There's one tiny feature of The Last Story that Nintendo forgot to reveal all this time. The upcoming Mistwalker RPG has online support. And we're not talking about download content. The game will let six players get together for online play sessions.

The latest issue of Jump reveals the surprise feature. Players will be able to access a "Raid Lobby" area to take part in cooperative and competitive play. In competitive play, six players face off against one another using the game's battle system. Cooperative play has six players team up to fight powerful bosses.

Jump doesn't mention if the game will have any local multiplayer play options, or if the main story mode will have a multiplayer component.

We expect to get further details, and hopefully media, for this new feature some time next week, so be sure and check back.

Japan gets The Last Story on January 27. Nintendo's international offices haven't shared worldwide release plans, but the inclusion of online play sounds like a pretty good bullet point for an international release.

Looking forward to importing a copy for the fan-translation a few years from now.

Even though I didn't agree with the decisions made, I could see why Nintendo didn't do worldwide releases for Disaster, Excitebots, Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland, Captain Rainbow, etc. But sweet baby Jesus. I can't imagine why on earth Nintendo wouldn't let this game out of Japan. It makes NO sense not to.

Also, Xenoblade, but I don't wanna get started on a rant about THAT.

@GameDadGrant

100% feel the same.

I couldn't fathom why this one wouldn't make it. But sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't either.

I really don't expect Xenosaga nor The Last Story to make it over to NA. Maybe Europe, but even that seems unlikely.
