@StephenThe Credits theme for Metroid Prime is very similar to the Menu music. @Mr_MustacheIt's good, but I hadn't played it yet! Anyway, I probably would have only had the one I embedded earlier. Others were good, but you have to really stick out to make my top 50. Final Fantasy Mystic Quest's Battle music is pretty sweet too. Square knew what they were doing.

@Jargon That is very wise actually. You want to experience it as you experience it in game. You want to associate these songs with characters, not a YouTube page .

@JargonI'm running the gamut!! 50. Classic and awesome. 49. How the hell did this get on here?? 48. Takes too long to kick in. Little Knights of Cydonia going on though, weird. 47. I always liked Metroid Prime's menu music better than the in game stuff, really. 46. Best song in the game, for sure. And thats not taking anything away from Mega Man 3 music. 45. Hmm. I didn't know that the newer Starman musics were based on this. Interesting. 44. This is the only Pokemon music I know. Its cool. 43. I love Mario 2. This music is Boss. Not sure what the rest of the list holds, but it better be serious business. Aborted: I didn't get very far.

@Jargon Oh as long as you will play it. @Stephen YES! I'd add in Prime 2's menu music too. They're all so good.

Super Mario Bros. should be #1. It's the most memorable tune in all of gaming. Even people that don't play games very much know that tune. Otherwise, good list.

@WrathOfSamus777But it's me and my friend's list of our favorites. I don't care what people who don't play games think about it, I care what I think about it and I think it's very good, but not #1. If I was trying to make a list of the most popular video game songs it might well make #1 (and Yoshi's Story wouldn't be on it, haha)

@WrathOfSamus777 Most memorable isn't always the best. Besides half of why it is "most memorable" is everyone in the world has played that game.

@JargonOh OK, I thought it was a list of what you guys thought were the best tunes. Since your thread title doesn't really say anything about your favorites. Carry on. @ZeroAnd a big reason why people like Super Mario Bros. is the memorable music. How many people think Super Mario Bros. has bad music? Most everyone thinks the music is great.

I'm just saying that it's only sort of "generally" the most memorable video game song because it's possibly the most heard one. I'm not saying that the music isn't awesome, but if games like Mega Man 2 or Chrono Trigger had the mass popular appeal that Super Mario Brothers does their music might be consider just as memorable. It's certainly not my personal most memorable song. I'd probably go with Lufia or something for that. Whatever the case I still insist that best and most memorable are too different things. There is often a lot of crossover, but they're not synonyms.

@WrathOfSamus777A distinction without a difference as far as I'm concerned...but let's not open that can of worms!

@ZeroBy that logic, the Wii Sports theme should be the most memorable since probably even more people have played Wii Sports than Super Mario Bros.

I listened to the rest of these last night. Not a bad list. I would've filled it with a lot more Mega Man, but I understand. Variety is cool. I WILL tell you that F-Zero is the only theme I cut off before it ended. I don't even think I made it halfway. Even if I didn't know that was F-Zero, I would've stopped it. That game and I really don't see eye to eye (or ear?), apparently..

@WrathOfSamus777 No, because my logic is that the Super Mario Bros. theme song is the most memorable (which I'm defining as I dunno, the most recognized / beloved / etc.?) because it's BOTH a really good song (and catchy) AND in one of the most popular games of all-time. But that doesn't automatically make it the best song.

@ZeroI never said it automatically makes it the best song. But you can make a very, very strong case for it. Stronger probably than any other tune in gaming, which was my point in the first place which has seemed to go right over your head.
