This is a list me and my friend made together that represents our consensus on the top 50 songs ever to first appear on a Nintendo console (or maybe arcade for some of them) That means no songs that later appeared in compilations like Sonic songs (otherwise Green Hill Zone would be very high). My niece was working on You Tube countdown videos, but I think she got busy with drama camp or something so they've been put on indefinite hold (I have no video making programs or skills). Anyway on to the list!
Since this was done with a friend I don't agree exactly with the placement of every song and there's some songs I wouldn't personally have and some omissions but such is the nature of collaboration. Still a damned good list and I listen to it as a playlist often. I have all of them on MP3 so if you want any of them, let me know your email and I'll be happy to oblige.
50. Classic and awesome. 49. How the hell did this get on here?? 48. Takes too long to kick in. Little Knights of Cydonia going on though, weird. 47. I always liked Metroid Prime's menu music better than the in game stuff, really. 46. Best song in the game, for sure. And thats not taking anything away from Mega Man 3 music. 45. Hmm. I didn't know that the newer Starman musics were based on this. Interesting. 44. This is the only Pokemon music I know. Its cool. 43. I love Mario 2. This music is Boss. Not sure what the rest of the list holds, but it better be serious business.
I'm just saying that it's only sort of "generally" the most memorable video game song because it's possibly the most heard one. I'm not saying that the music isn't awesome, but if games like Mega Man 2 or Chrono Trigger had the mass popular appeal that Super Mario Brothers does their music might be consider just as memorable.
It's certainly not my personal most memorable song. I'd probably go with Lufia or something for that.
Whatever the case I still insist that best and most memorable are too different things. There is often a lot of crossover, but they're not synonyms.
@WrathOfSamus777 No, because my logic is that the Super Mario Bros. theme song is the most memorable (which I'm defining as I dunno, the most recognized / beloved / etc.?) because it's BOTH a really good song (and catchy) AND in one of the most popular games of all-time.
But that doesn't automatically make it the best song.
@Zero I never said it automatically makes it the best song. But you can make a very, very strong case for it. Stronger probably than any other tune in gaming, which was my point in the first place which has seemed to go right over your head.
