Whoa, whoa, whoa Mario Tennis 64? Awesome!

Wow, what a coincidence. A former roommate of mine is staying at my place for a while and was asking me if MT64 was on the VC. Guess I know what we'll be playing tonight.

And I can't believe the Beer Pong game was successful enough for a sequel. Crazy.

Fixed that for you.

Waluigi will be very happy with this week's Nintendo Download.

I'll probably get Jett Rocket after I've completed Galaxy 2.

No new downloadable Nintendo puzzlers???

*shrivel*

@anon_mastermind
I've heard a lot of people say that they like the N64 version better. I don't really understand why, since you can disable all of the gimmicky stuff. Do you think the GCN version plays worse on a base level?

lol
wait a minute!!! I thought the GCN version had more options? Couldn't you stop the 'power shots' (edit: Like anand said "gimicky") in that game as well to closely resemble the n64 version? I'm going to have to boot it up as I have forgotten - all I remember is that I liked that version better - although it wasn't miles ahead of it's great predecessor.

Question about Mario Tennis 64: weren't there features or characters that could only be unlocked with the Game Boy pack thingy?

@Pandareus I'm pretty sure both Golf and Tennis had that feature. I don't have either game, but if it's anything like Mario Kart 64 for instance, then those features are out.

@Smerd I too wish there could be more arcade games. Particularly Nintendo ones like Donkey Kong and Popeye

@X-pert74

Hmm, according to Wikipedia there are courts that become unlockable after you link with the GBC game. I hope Nintendo has thought of making those courts available on the VC version.

I remember the AI being better in Mario Tennis 64, as well as the "gimmicky" courts being more fun. I guess it's because IMO everything they added to Power Tour was a downgrade...while the same basic tennis is still there it felt stagnant when held up to its predecessor. Oh and I had a lot of fun with items in the N64 version, I forget if they had them in the GCN game.

Intense difficulty with items Mario & Luigi vs Bowser and Boo on Bowser's court. That shit was epic!

Are you sure it wasn't just a nostalgia thing?

I have both, but I haven't played them thaaat in-depth, so I don't think I'm qualified to judge.

The GBA Mario Tennis was really good, though, even if the mini-games were sometimes frustrating.
