Nintendo Co., Ltd. (Minami-ward of Kyoto-city, President Satoru Iwata) will launch "Nintendo 3DS"(temp) during the fiscal year ending March 2011, on which games can be enjoyed with 3D effects without the need for any special glasses.
"Nintendo 3DS"(temp) is going to be the new portable game machine to succeed "Nintendo DS series", whose cumulative consolidated sales from Nintendo amounted to 125million units as of the end of December 2009, and will include backward compatibility so that the software for Nintendo DS series, including the ones for Nintendo DSi, can also be enjoyed.
We are planning to announce additional details at E3 show, which is scheduled to be held from June 15, 2010 at Los Angeles in the U.S.
"The rest of the Microsoft Xbox 360 conference was unbelievable. In my 10 years covering this kind of stuff, this was BY FAR the most impressive conference I have ever attended. As a budding young game designer, I can honestly say that Microsoft had every angle covered. Just about everything they showed made me want to push my imagination farther than I ever have before, to rethink what was possible, because nearly everything they demonstrated had at the very least a practical application (Natal, interactive functionality, Netflix, Zune, Facebook, etc.) or a big fat WOW factor (Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, the Molyneux demo, Forza 3, Kojima, Final Fantasy XIII, etc.). Then just to rub it in our faces, they drag out people like Steven F******* Spielberg to scpiel about the 360? Overkill, perhaps, but inch for inch the most incredible showcase I have yet seen, and the first time I got a lump in my throat since the Nintendo conference when they first unveiled Smash Brothers for GameCube. I seriously don't know how Nintendo or Sony can top this tomorrow. Nintendo could announce 5 Mario games, 5 new Zelda games, 15 new Metroid games tomorrow and it just couldn't compare. Sony could announce God of War games and Team Ico games til they're blue in the face tomorrow, and there's no way they match today's show."

Sorry, just had to post this...always good for a laugh.
i think that people are looking too much at that DSiware game for the 3d that is going to be capable. im thinking it will be more like the 3d you see at the cinema.
according to gonintendo this sorce named below says
- "it is believed that the system will use a Sharp 3D LCD panel." - this 3d tech is acheived by placing a small film on the screen, which is separated by a small space. The slight differences in the image creates the 3d effect
I think the world exploded with this news. This thing NEEDS Gamcube graphics, and if it does consider this another gen dominated, as well as something incredible....me actually fully supporting a handheld. This thing sounds like a mini console itself, which I love.
@casper884 That... how come I have never seen anything like this before?!
WAIT... tell me they have online porn like this. If not it is a trillion dollar idea waiting to happen...
Because the image has to judder like that in order for it to be perceived as 3D (without glasses). That obviously wouldn't work practically, if you wanted to view a video or movie properly. Since Nintendo is using specialized screens that games can be tailored to, you can get the same effect, without the juddering, and most importantly, without the glasses. Since your computer screen does not feature these special screens, you have to view the image as the one I have posted (with the juddering) in order for it to work.
