"The Official Nintendo Magazine UK is hanging out at tonight's BAFTA Video Game awards, and has punched into its Twitter account that not only did it get to talk to one Shigeru Miyamoto, but that he's confirmed Pikmin 3 is in development and "well under way." Over a year ago, the game was rumored to be released a week-and-a-half from now, but we'll presume it's not quite that far along in development."
I don't understand why I get posts like this. Is this supposed to mean something? The information I post is not gospel, and is only relayed from what I hear internally.
Besides, Miyamoto has stated that the game was in development a year ago, nothing has changed.
@casper884 I think all he ever publicly stated was "we have a Pikmin in development" or something, without stating platform. And this was back post E3 '08-fallout when Nintendo had to try to appease the "core" gamers right away and New Play Pikmin was in development, so I always wondered if it was just vague PR referencing that game.
I know that the lack of a day limit is an issue that divides people on the game, but I think it would be in my favor. I really liked the mechanics of the original Pikmin, but the day limit really stressed me out... the idea of having to restart the whole game because I wasn't quick enough. I can't play games like that.
Hopefully they can come up with something clever for Pikmin 3 that satisfies both kinds of people.
Well I think we all figured that a new pikmin would be made at some point. My information was referencing his statment at E3 when he said that 'Pikmin was in development'. Sources tell me that he was basically just giving us a bone to 'appease' us and nothing was concrete AT THAT TIME. Of course, many months later, the project actually come to fruition after such a statement. It's the same exact scenario when Iwata announced Brawl before he even appointed Sakurai to head up development!
At any rate, I have to say that Shiggy is one pretty slick fellow.
You should look for NPC Pikmin. It started out cheap and is probably even cheaper now, plus I heard it's even better with Wii controls. One of my top games of last generation.
I agree they should just save this for Wii 2. Same goes for a few of their other franchises like Star Fox and F-Zero. Like, I'd love a good Wii version of those games but I can see them pulling something stupid insane with those two games and make them near launch titles. It'd be so sweet.
I'm more sold on Wii 2 being high-end more than ever. Nintendo and all their comments about HD lately, all the money they've spent on R&D, all the money they've EARNED with the Wii (and DS) must be going SOMEWHERE, and all these rumours about a high end DS2. I refuse to believe Nintendo would make a handheld as powerful as the Wii and then have their next system only a marginal improvement over the last. Kinda off topic but I just had to rant some of my latest Wii 2 feelings. I know many people still insist Nintendo would go low tech again next gen but...I dunno. Maybe it's just me hoping for the best, but I sense it this time. Nintendo with Crysis level graphics would truly be a force to be reckoned with....
@carlosrox so you're saying every single franchise should wait for Wii 2?! I don't see why Starfox should wait, honestly. It's an on rail game, you can make it looks amazing on Wii.
No, I'm just saying this for Pikmin. It's a franchise with tons of details and little characters, and it just really doesn't look good in SD. It aliases A LOT. A sequel with HD and more horsepower would make more sense.
Maybe if they release after Zelda then we won't have to worry about how bad it would have looked in SD. .
