Also new this week:
Astro Duel Deluxe (Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch) Available May 30
ACA NEOGEO THE KING OF FIGHTERS 99 (Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch)
I'm curious why it's scoring a bit better than the original Disgaea 5. Just different reviewers at different times, or is the (included) DLC really good, or what? I might grab it up when I find some time.
Hmm, and I didn't even know we were getting Astro Duel? I bought it on Steam awhile back because it looked like a fun multiplayer game, but I never actually got around to checking it out. No idea if it is any good... anyone trying it?! It doesn't actually have any reviews on GR except a single review for the iOS version, and they liked it. It's kind of like a 4 player competitive Asteroids I guess?
Can. Not. Wait. ULTRA Street Fighter II comes out tomorrow! My local GameStop said they may do an early release of the game tonight after closing. I'll be jumping on that right away. It'll be weird not having Garou: Mark of the Wolves as my go-to fighting game on Switch anymore, but I think the new game will be worth it.
Oh and hey, The King of Fighters '99! Another great one. The Switch is kind of becoming my haven for great old-school fighters. I'm kind of digging it.
@GameDadGrant King of Fighters 99 versus King of Fighters 98: Which one is best?
I still haven't bought any of the old SNK games for Switch, and maybe a KoF won't be my first, but the sheer amount of games makes it daunting for me to understand and keep track of the differences between the games, so I'd like to know how they compare.
The only thing I know right now is that King of Fighters 99 has some of the prettiest pixel art backgrounds I've ever seen. Almost want to buy the game for that alone. It's turning me into some sort of retro graphics whore.
I saw a physical copy of Street Fighter for sale yesterday while picking up Logan on Blu-Ray. I wasn't expecting to see it, but I assumed it was supposed to be out, given the store I was at.
Honestly you can't go wrong either way. Though I'd suggest '99 over '98 because I don't believe that one has been available on a Nintendo system before now. ('94-'98 were all on Wii, thanks to The King of Fighters Collection: The Orochi Saga)
That said, if you haven't bought ANY yet, may I suggest Garou: Mark of the Wolves? That's my personal favorite. Not technically a The King of Fighters game (it was originally branded as a Fatal Fury entry when it first debuted in America) The pixel art in Garou is less detail-oriented than the older games, but man! The animation is incredible. Almost as good as the animations seen in the Street Fighter III series. Seriously great stuff.
Hmm, what store were you at? My local GameStop was planning on a "after closing" sale of ULTRA Street Fighter II, but when I called they said they were not doing it and I had to pick up my game tomorrow.
Pikmin 3 DLC from MyNintendo? Finally, something to use gold coins on! Might be time to pop in that beauty and check it out. Hm, but I have a digital copy which means I can't "pop it in" so to speak... What does one say when playing a digital game again after some time?
