Now tell me that doesn't look awesome. One of the best implementations of head-tracking I've seen yet. It really looks like a real 3-dimensional environment inside of the screen.

Looks cool. This is how to do 3-d.

Agreed. None of that stereoscopic eye-straining bullshit.

very cool.

Made me think of FFIX and how part of the story was a play. It'd be really neat to watch a cutscene in that way.

Very cool, though there is a slight lag.

Also, I clicked on this thread thinking someone had finally made DSiware porn.

Well, this wasn't what I expected.

Pretty cool, but I wonder about the actual gameplay applications of it.

Also, I don't think it's head-tracking (specifically, eye-tracking, if that's what you were referring to), because he keeps moving the DS, not his eyes or head. I think it is just a jury-rigged tilt function that uses the cameras (most likely the external one). It would probably only be head-tracking if you mounted the DSi to your head (which seems dangerous, in the case of the XL).

Coming to an iPhone near you. Nah, it's Japanese.

Well, maybe...

No, it really does use face tracking. But how the tilt function works is by using the face as an anchor, and then judging tilt based on the deviation and orientation from the anchor (your face/iris) and your background.

I know about the functionality because it was one of the first things I found out about when I was debriefed on some software using the camera. That was about a year ago.

It's demonstrated in the video. By changing the perspective letters and objects appear then you highlight/select them.

Yeah, I noticed that. It just didn't seem like a particularly enjoyable task. It might be good for those "find the object" games that are all the rage with the casual set these days, though.

Hmm... virtual Virtual Boy emulation?

Yeah, this looks really neat. It's stuff like this that may have me picking up a DSi.

Ugh...I was kind of avoiding the DSi even though DSi Ware has been awesome. But now I want one. That is just too cool for words.

I wonder if they'll use the camera to have Wii Wheel like control in the next Mario Kart DS. I'm not a huge fan of motion controls for racing games, but I'd prefer it to the sucky D-pad of the DS.

I thought of that too after their new touch screen steering wheel patent.
