RENEGADE KID FOUNDERS EMBARK ON NEW SOLO VENTURES

One chapter ends. Two new exciting chapters begin!

AUSTIN, Texas – August 29, 2016 - Renegade Kid has announced that its co-founders, Jools Watsham and Gregg Hargrove, have made the difficult decision to bring their 10-year partnership of developing games together as Renegade Kid LLC to an end.

With their friendship and respect for each other still very much intact, Watsham and Hargrove will continue developing videogames under the names of their new companies: Atooi and Infitizmo.

The award-winning library of Intellectual Properties that Renegade Kid has created over the past decade will be finding new homes. All of Renegade Kid’s “2D” games, including the Mutant Mudds series and Treasurenauts, will become the property of Atooi. All of Renegade Kid’s “3D” games, including the Dementium series and Moon Chronicles, will become the property of Infitizmo.

We hope you will share in the excitement that both Jools and Gregg feel for their new journeys. You can follow their progress on twitter: @AtooiLLC and @InfitizmoLLC.

@GameDadGrant

Yeah, seemed out of left field...I know they were financially struggling for a while. Seems like this might be for the best.

@ludist210

Splitting up the two just seems like delaying the inevitable, if financial issues are a concern.

I wonder if we'll ever get Treasurenauts at this point? Or Cult County?

@GameDadGrant Maybe they had vastly different opinions on how to solve financial difficulties?

Cult County hasn't been in development in years, doubt that is ever coming. Treasurenauts will probably release through Atooi.

Hmm... looks like Jools ended up with all of the franchises that I care about. So business as usual, I guess...?

I've always wondered about Renegade Kid's financial situation. Hopefully, they'll strike it big one day.

This is pretty surprising. Weren't Mutant Mudds and Xeodrifter do alright in sales? And I thought quite Treasurenauts had enough people excited about it to keep the company afloat.

@Zero

You're probably right about Cult County, but I still would really love it if that game eventually saw a release. It seemed to have a lot of promise. I mean, judging from what the developers were saying their vision of the game was going to be. I was definitely looking forward to it.

I'll keep holding out for Treasurenauts too, but man! It's been a long while since we've heard ANYTHING about that project.

@GameDadGrant They did that massively failed Kickstarter where they didn't even get 10% of what they were asking for though, which kind of pointed to the interest in the game not being nearly as much as they needed for its potential budget. The only way I think it could ever happen is if they found a 3rd party publisher for it or something but that seems unlikely too.

Seems super odd to me that neither side kept the original name. You already have a brand, why abandon it? Unless they both wanted fresh starts, in which case that speaks quite a bit about the company they left behind, I suppose. Well, all the best to them going forward! :D

@J.K. Riki It is kind of bizarre, they are by no means a huge name in the industry but for Nintendo platforms I think they are fairly well known.

My money is on they just didn't see eye to eye and neither wanted to let *their* company go in some direction they didn't believe in without them so this was the best they could come up with... fresh start for everyone.

This seems to make the most sense based on recent decisions.

...And those are the names you're going with? Wow lol.

Anyway none of these games really appealed to me (with the exception of Xeodrifter, which I may pick up on sale) but it seems like the 2D ones are much more popular, right? If these were all developed together, seems like Infinitizinimo got the short end of the stick, with rights only to the 3D ones...

I was once a huge fan of Renegade Kid, but then they got in the habit of announcing vaporware instead of making games so now they are dead to me. #CultCounty #NeverForget #NeverForgive
