The successor to Club Nintendo is finally here, and it seems like a solid improvement! The way it works is you can get three different types Coins through completing Missions.

Miitomo (blue) Coins are from using Miitomo. These apparently work as platinum coins as well.
Mushroom (platinum) Coins are from using My Nintendo itself regularly.
Star (gold) Coins are from purchasing eShop games.

(oddly, Gold seems to be more valuable than Platinum, which is why I'm wondering they didn't just go with Silver or something. But I digress)

You can then use your coinage for some choice rewards. Here's the full current list:

WII U DIGITAL:
Pikmin 3 Add-On Content: Battle Enemies! Stages 7-10 (20 Gold Points)
Metroid Fusion (Wii U) (60 Gold Points)
Super Punch-Out!! (Wii U) (70 Gold Points)
Super Mario 64 (Wii U) (90 Gold Points)
New Super Mario Bros. U Add-On Content: New Super Luigi U (90 Gold Points)

3DS DIGITAL:
Flipnote Studio 3D (Free!)
My Nintendo Picross: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (1000 Platinum points) (new game!)
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins (3DS) (35 Gold Points)
WarioWare: Touched! (3DS) (1000 Platinum Points)

My Nintendo Theme 1: Mario (200 Platinum Points)
My Nintendo Theme 2: Donkey Kong (200 Platinum Points)

DIGITAL GAME DISCOUNTS:

15% discount on The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD (750 Platinum Points)
15% discount on Yoshi's Woolly World (750 Platinum Points)

30% discount on Punch-Out!! (50 Gold Points)
30% discount on Ultimate NES Remix (70 Gold Points)
30% discount on The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D (100 Gold Points)
30% discount on Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (100 Gold Points)
30% discount on Splatoon (140 Gold Points)

MIITOMO REWARDS:
Miitomo 1 game ticket (85 Platinum points)
Miitomo Mario Suit (250 Platinum points)
Miitomo 5 game tickets (420 Platinum points)
Miitomo 10 game tickets (250 Platinum points for one time only)

Lots of good stuff to offer, from discounts, VC games (including the first DS VC game on 3DS!), and even new software like Twilight Princess Picross!

I got 250 coins just from doing some basic stuff--signing into Miiverse and eShop (30 platinum apiece once a week), and linking my account to My Nintendo and Facebook. It's a solid starting point towards getting that sweet, sweet Picross game.

All in all, it seems like a good replacement. My only gripe--and it's kind of a biggie--is that it currently doesn't offer any reward for buying physical copies of games. Kinda stings.

Anyway, go nuts and get some Coins! What rewards do you have your eye on?

Why not sign up for a (free) account?

I agree with ludist here, but my issue is that looking at answers is juuuuuust a little too clunky for me.

Click on the item with an update, wait a couple seconds to load, scroll down to see that somebody said "I think so too!," click the back button, wash and repeat.

I wish there was an easier way to look at everything at once, but I suppose that'd kill the uniqueness of the presentation.

I could use more Miitomo friends @wells529 Thanks.

I am a little disappointed that there is not better platinum gifts or even a way to "exchange currency"
I guess I was thinking if I used their app long enough I could eventually get a discounted game on my Wii U hahaha

I have enough to get the discount on Super Mario 3D Land. Always thought the game looked interesting. How is it?

@Brick

I enjoyed it quite a bit. Have you played Super Mario 3D World?

@Brick

It's awesome. Buy it!

@Brick It's good, but don't expect anything amazing, especially if you've already played the superior Super Mario 3D World. It's a bit on the short side though, with its content lamely padded out by repeating levels with little changes to them, and the controls are pretty wonky, moreso than 3D World. There are still some good levels to be found in it, though, and it still has one of the best uses of 3D on the system.

I just played 3D Land the other day. Pretty fun, but I feel like it's actually getting more strenuous for me to play in 3D. But it WAS late night when I gave it a spin.

Either that or I'm going blind, I guess.

@DrFinkelstein

Of course! Any big console Mario game is a must buy!

@Brick

Then I think you'll like 3D Land.

@Brick

Just keep in mind that it's a step down from 3D World in almost every way. It's still a ton of fun, but in a more subdued and small-scale design. Kind of like going from Mario 3 to Mario 1 for most people, except maybe not as much of a deficit.

Jeez - I enjoyed Land WAAAAYYYYY more than World. I think the movement in World totally broke the spell for me, it was so stiff and artificial, took me right out of the experience. Land feels like a Mario game, yeah, you will drop off the edge because you're not concentrating but at least it feels like you are controlling a living character.
I'd say World is probably my least fave 3D Mario game and if they return to that style I won't be in a hurry to buy again. Man I sound really angry here, I'm not, I've just never articulated this point before. Anywho, I hope you enjoy 3D Land @Brick. It's a perfect fit for the 3DS. It has a slower pace but some of the levels are exhilarating in 3D. Don't be put off by the simplicity of the early game, there's a nice challenge down the line.

@Mop it up

Wow, that came across really seething.

@Super_Conzo

I'm more in agreement here. 3D World's controls are a bit hokey - that 8-direction-only walking/running for a 3D game doesn't work very well. It doesn't even have true analog control, which is just embarrassing for a Mario game. And trying to play multiplayer is just an exercise in frustration.

The lack of true stereoscopic 3D was also a bummer, but YMMV.

That said, there are more stages, power-ups, unlockables and...just MORE stuff in 3D World than 3D Land. As it should be - it's the sequel, after all. It should be doing all that stuff. But 3D Land is fantastic, and definitely worth playing through.

Not going to lie, I honestly thought I had posted here some time in the distant past. Apparently I was mistaken.
