The successor to Club Nintendo is finally here, and it seems like a solid improvement! The way it works is you can get three different types Coins through completing Missions.

Miitomo (blue) Coins are from using Miitomo. These apparently work as platinum coins as well.
Mushroom (platinum) Coins are from using My Nintendo itself regularly.
Star (gold) Coins are from purchasing eShop games.

(oddly, Gold seems to be more valuable than Platinum, which is why I'm wondering they didn't just go with Silver or something. But I digress)

You can then use your coinage for some choice rewards. Here's the full current list:

WII U DIGITAL:
Pikmin 3 Add-On Content: Battle Enemies! Stages 7-10 (20 Gold Points)
Metroid Fusion (Wii U) (60 Gold Points)
Super Punch-Out!! (Wii U) (70 Gold Points)
Super Mario 64 (Wii U) (90 Gold Points)
New Super Mario Bros. U Add-On Content: New Super Luigi U (90 Gold Points)

3DS DIGITAL:
Flipnote Studio 3D (Free!)
My Nintendo Picross: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (1000 Platinum points) (new game!)
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins (3DS) (35 Gold Points)
WarioWare: Touched! (3DS) (1000 Platinum Points)

My Nintendo Theme 1: Mario (200 Platinum Points)
My Nintendo Theme 2: Donkey Kong (200 Platinum Points)

DIGITAL GAME DISCOUNTS:
15% discount on Super Mario 3D Land (450 Platinum Points)
15% discount on Animal Crossing: New Leaf (450 Platinum Points)
15% discount on The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (600 Platinum Points)
15% discount on The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD (750 Platinum Points)
15% discount on Yoshi's Woolly World (750 Platinum Points)

30% discount on Punch-Out!! (50 Gold Points)
30% discount on Ultimate NES Remix (70 Gold Points)
30% discount on The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D (100 Gold Points)
30% discount on Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (100 Gold Points)
30% discount on Splatoon (140 Gold Points)

MIITOMO REWARDS:
Miitomo 1 game ticket (85 Platinum points)
Miitomo Mario Suit (250 Platinum points)
Miitomo 5 game tickets (420 Platinum points)
Miitomo 10 game tickets (250 Platinum points for one time only)

Lots of good stuff to offer, from discounts, VC games (including the first DS VC game on 3DS!), and even new software like Twilight Princess Picross!

I got 250 coins just from doing some basic stuff--signing into Miiverse and eShop (30 platinum apiece once a week), and linking my account to My Nintendo and Facebook. It's a solid starting point towards getting that sweet, sweet Picross game.

All in all, it seems like a good replacement. My only gripe--and it's kind of a biggie--is that it currently doesn't offer any reward for buying physical copies of games. Kinda stings.

Anyway, go nuts and get some Coins! What rewards do you have your eye on?

Well, decided it just wasn't worth it. Passed on making a Twitter account just for this app. Didn't stop me from dumping a few bucks into the app, though. Bought some great duds in case I ever do see anybody in person to add. Good times!

You need to click on the brick in the bottom right corner of the page (scroll down)

THEN the Mii will be holding the present and you can go click crazy.

Check your emails former CN peeps. Got a nice 200 point code in there and now I can grab TP Picross!

Thanks for the reminder! It's just what I needed to help me reach the thousand point mark. I just downloaded WarioWare Touched.

@Shadowlink
See my edit. I was just being dumb :P

Also, the fact we can manually put in codes for points, seems to suggest that we might get physical game codes later on.

And Miitomo's already seen some updates hasn't it? I notice changes in Miifoto already.

Damn Nintendo is good at giving you things you don't even know you want. Miitomo is pretty fuckin' impressive. Niiiiiiiice little idea they've got here. It's ridiculously fun and charming. It truly does make you feel like answering these questions...however way you want! And it's a nice little joke/meme/cut pic/whatever maker because it lets you play with all your pics on your device. That's awesome!

This reminds me of Miiverse a lot actually. I think Miiverse got worse with that big update they did awhile back, but I can't forget Nintendo really can knock things like this out of the park if they want to.

By the way I think it may be possible to add people now just through their friends list. I just added Anand through Finlos. So I guess no one really needs to make any new accounts if they don't have one? Or am I missing something?

I wish there were more ways to get Platinum points for those of us who can't play Miitomo. It's going to take me months to get enough points for Picross,.

I'm fearful of spending Platinum and Miitomo Platinum coins… I don't know what prizes are around the corner.

Is Wario Ware Touched really that good?

I'm kinda pissed because I burned through coins in Miitomo not realizing they could be used elsewhere.

Well, Nintendo screws me over again by not adequately explaining their rewards program.

Some of these Miitomo questions are really personal.

@Hero_Of_Hyrule

I think the main reason is that it'd be difficult/expensive to add in codes to new Wii U or 3DS games. They'd either have to manufacture a new line of, like, Pikmin 3s and Fire Emblem Fateses, or only have it in Wii U/3DS first-party games that were released after My Nintendo launched (which, let's be honest, is not going to be many in this case), which is kinda confusing.

I'll be okay with this is NX stuff is applicable to the program. And on an optimistic note, the program DOES let you put in codes, so I'm hoping NX physical stuff will contain them, Club Nintendo-style.

@cooliocuneo
Kinda, although that's not how you unlock it. You have to click the brick block on the bottom right of the page.

@Mop it up
I think Bill is referring to physical rewards, not physical game codes.

@DrFinkelstein You can't wait too long to decide though, as your points are good for only 6 months.

Looking at it again, that could be the case. Leave it to IGN to misinterpret something!

Indeed. I'm wondering if I should go for that Wario game and THEN the Zelda Picross. I want that Zelda Picross pretty bad but it doesn't expire as fast as Wario.

Is there an easy way to see which coins will expire and when?

@DrFinkelstein If you click on the Menu button in the top right corner, and then click Points History, it will show you an itemized list of the points you earned and the date you earned them. You can then do the math from there and points are used from the oldest first. I don't think there is an easier way than that.

Okay, I hijacked my daughter's Twitter and linked it to my miitomo (even though she started up miitomo herself. Sucker!) and followed a handful of you guys. I have no idea what to do next. Her Twitter is lvrofallthings, name of Alex, but it's me (kinda, just using it to connect to you guys), good ol' Koovaps. Don't worry, she only uses Twitter to follow dumb K-pop boy bands.

I hate to sound dumb but am I the only one confused as to why this new rewards system seems so convoluted?

I see that we still get Gold Coins for purchasing games (but not retail games?), so I guess nothing has changed there. But now we also have Platinum coins which are gained from (for now) using Miitomo. What will get Platinum Coins in the future? Getting achievements in games? I feel like Nintendo would have to be pretty bold to apply some sort of actual currency to bonuses like in-game missions, but I guess they already have?

Edit: I think I'm getting it a little better now. I'm still not sure what I think of it.
