My Nintendo link

The successor to Club Nintendo is finally here, and it seems like a solid improvement! The way it works is you can get three different types Coins through completing Missions.

Miitomo (blue) Coins are from using Miitomo. These apparently work as platinum coins as well.
Mushroom (platinum) Coins are from using My Nintendo itself regularly.
Star (gold) Coins are from purchasing eShop games.

(oddly, Gold seems to be more valuable than Platinum, which is why I'm wondering they didn't just go with Silver or something. But I digress)

You can then use your coinage for some choice rewards. Here's the full current list:

WII U DIGITAL:
Pikmin 3 Add-On Content: Battle Enemies! Stages 7-10 (20 Gold Points)
Metroid Fusion (Wii U) (60 Gold Points)
Super Punch-Out!! (Wii U) (70 Gold Points)
Super Mario 64 (Wii U) (90 Gold Points)
New Super Mario Bros. U Add-On Content: New Super Luigi U (90 Gold Points)

3DS DIGITAL:
Flipnote Studio 3D (Free!)
My Nintendo Picross: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (1000 Platinum points) (new game!)
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins (3DS) (35 Gold Points)
WarioWare: Touched! (3DS) (1000 Platinum Points)

My Nintendo Theme 1: Mario (200 Platinum Points)
My Nintendo Theme 2: Donkey Kong (200 Platinum Points)

DIGITAL GAME DISCOUNTS:
15% discount on Super Mario 3D Land (450 Platinum Points)
15% discount on Animal Crossing: New Leaf (450 Platinum Points)
15% discount on The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (600 Platinum Points)
15% discount on The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD (750 Platinum Points)
15% discount on Yoshi's Woolly World (750 Platinum Points)

30% discount on Punch-Out!! (50 Gold Points)
30% discount on Ultimate NES Remix (70 Gold Points)
30% discount on The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D (100 Gold Points)
30% discount on Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (100 Gold Points)
30% discount on Splatoon (140 Gold Points)

MIITOMO REWARDS:
Miitomo 1 game ticket (85 Platinum points)
Miitomo Mario Suit (250 Platinum points)
Miitomo 5 game tickets (420 Platinum points)
Miitomo 10 game tickets (250 Platinum points for one time only)

Lots of good stuff to offer, from discounts, VC games (including the first DS VC game on 3DS!), and even new software like Twilight Princess Picross!

I got 250 coins just from doing some basic stuff--signing into Miiverse and eShop (30 platinum apiece once a week), and linking my account to My Nintendo and Facebook. It's a solid starting point towards getting that sweet, sweet Picross game.

All in all, it seems like a good replacement. My only gripe--and it's kind of a biggie--is that it currently doesn't offer any reward for buying physical copies of games. Kinda stings.

Anyway, go nuts and get some Coins! What rewards do you have your eye on?

Why not sign up for a (free) account?

Okay, I just made a twitter for a Nintendo app... how the hell was "hinph" taken? There's another hinph in the world? I challenge them to a duel for the rights to my name back!

We should be sure to add each other on Twitter or Facebook to connect. Once I look into this later, perhaps we can get a little database going.

So add me if you'd like and I'm happy to add y'all back. :)

The site and app feel very well crafted, I'm impressed. They really went all out.

Be on the lookout for an email from Nintendo.
If you were a Club Nintendo member you will receive a code for 200 platinum points.

Twilight Princess Picross, here I come!

So, do we know, on average, how many points we can earn in a day/week by using Miitomo? I want to get the Mario Suit and Wario Ware, but I want to know how quickly I can make up those coins.

Physical games aren't eligible, points expire after six months instead of two years, some rewards will be offered for only a short period of time, some of the points earning stuff requires doing social media garbage... I didn't think it possible, but this is significantly worse than Club Nintendo.

Twitter (I don't use this often)
Facebook (I use this more often)

@Mop it up Maybe, but at least the new site is more stable than the old CN was...

Does seem like they are pushing for digital sales, which makes sense these days. I'm totally okay with digital games now that we finally appear to have them linked to this universal account.

I still think all of our VC game purchases throughout the years should be automatically made available across all platforms they are on as a sign of good will on Nintendo's behalf.

Twitter: I don't use this often either.

Facebook: I use this every day.

I feel that the purchases we have made in the last couple of months should have been reflected. I feel jipped for buying Virtual Console stuff before today. I knew the risks and lost.

@Mop it up

Haha, well when you put it that way...! The main thing that bugs me is the no physical games thing. I think the rewards are better and more reasonable than with Club Nintendo though, and the site is slick and easy to use (even when hit with a lot of traffic like today) which...was not always the case with CN.

social media garbage... .

This. No Facebook. No Twitter.

I understand why they're doing it, but it still sucks ass.

Also, no email yet and no link to login stuff from Nintendo Australia. It's still advertising how to 'preregister'. I don't even know if I set that up properly or not.

This was supposed to be live for us last night. Blugh.

The site may be more stable in the sense that I don't get an error code and have it be inaccessible, but it is a whole lot slower to load and run than Club Nintendo was when it worked. Honestly, I'll take the former, since there were only a couple of times Club Nintendo didn't work when I tried to visit, so it was a rare occurrence whereas this slow-as-molasses is all the time.

@Shadowlink Yeah, this is what a lot of rewards programs have become so Nintendo are just following suit. Way too many things have become a form of mindless advertising.

Fuck I don't need this right now. My 3 month old phone is already seeing massive battery drain.

Yeah, totally. And I don't do anything 'mobile' either. Is this for me at all??

@Mr_Mustache

I don't have a mobile phone, but I've gotten 500+ platinum points due to the initial missions on the site, which is halfway to a couple of the games I really want (WarioWare and Zelda Picross). And if you do digital games you can get points towards new ones.

@TriforceBun

I don't do digital games. I like to go to the store, open up a game and smell the crispness, I like to put a game into my Wii U and hear it spin, and then I like to put the case on my shelf.

Made a Twitter account. Follow or friend or whatever it is so we can do whatever Miitomo is! Or something. I don't know how this works.

Not even Nintendo can get me to join the crap show that is Facebook and Twitter, but I'll still mess with miitomo as much as I can. I'll still dress my mii up even though nobody else can see it! And no recognition for physical games means I won't give a crap about My Nintendo either. That's fine, though.
