This week’s Nintendo Download includes the following featured content:
Virtual Console on Wii U
Hogan’s Alley – Use your split-second reflexes and sharp-shooting skills in the practice shooting range. Use the Wii Remote controller to aim and shoot at the old-timey gangsters as they turn, while avoiding the innocent bystanders. Or in another mode, shoot cans and keep them in the air until they reach the platforms.
The Adventures of Bayou Billy – Godfather Gordon has stolen sweet Annabelle Lane. But Bayou Billy won’t rest until his girlfriend is back home safe – even if he has to wrestle crocodiles, beat up Gordon’s goons and endure a shootout! You can even play shootout scenes with the Wii Remote controller.
Wild Gunman – Go back in time or relive it in today’s future with the classic Wild West shootout of Wild Gunman. Keep your hand steady on the Wii Remote controller and get the outlaw before he gets you. If you think you can win the battle against one outlaw, try winning against all of his friends.

Wow, not much happening with new releases on Nintendo's hardware lately.
Cool that the Wii U Virtual Console is making use of the "Zapper" games. I'll admit I'm pretty surprised by the Adventures of Bayou Billy making it on to the service. I guess even though Konami isn't making new games anymore, they don't mind making some cash off of their old properties...
Kinda want Bayou Billy, I know it's bad... but it's so nostalgic.
For a second I thought Wild Gunman was Wild Guns and I got excited! Then I got sad. Then I check and it seems like Wild Guns is already on the VC?! Then I got happy. Moral of the story is that I'm getting Wild Guns.
Fuck, yeah! Hogan's Alley! My favorite NES lightgun game. I could shoot those cans forever...
Also, Wild Gunman! From Back to the Future!
Never played it. It was only in the arcades, right? I don't remember seeing it on the NES. Wasn't Hogan's Alley kind of a spiritual successor?
Everybody talks shit about Bayou Billy these days, but I seem to remember that it was pretty respected, back in the day, with its mixup of game types. I dunno. I had it.
I find this week exciting, in terms of expanding the boundaries of the Virtual Console service. C'monnnn, Gumshoe.
@GameDadGrant It's not as surprising as Stinger, but it IS still pretty surprising. There's, like, one person at Konami who still likes video games... just sneaking around and sending stuff to Nintendo for approval.
@Anand Actually, despite being an arcade game in Back to the Future II, Wild Gunman was never an arcade game.
I actually still have the cartridges for all three of these NES games. Never really been into them though... in fact I can't even remember where I got them.
Man, I always stunk at Bayou Billy. I wonder if I can handle it now as an "adult." I beat Ninja Gaiden and Castlevania in the last couple years, and thats after taking a crack at them for my entire childhood. Could happen!
@GameDadGrant Meh, I haven't played it since I was a kid but I remember it being pretty crappy, hard but not in a fair way, in like a bad-game-design way.
Apparently the Japanese version of Bayou Billy (a post apocalyptic themed game) is a lot easier. For some reason when they ported it here they made it ungodly difficult for some reason.
Yeah, gotta get good at those jump-kicks during the "brawler" stages. Jump-kicks are the only way to fight off those thugs...at least until one drops a gun. Then just shoot 'em all.
I think the brawler stages are the only difficult part of the game. (which, admittedly, is a majority of the title) The driving and Zapper stuff aren't too difficult.
