It's on practically every other platform imaginable, and now it is finally coming to the Wii U!

To clarify, this is not the "Story Mode" offshoot game that released awhile back, but the full Minecraft experience.

In addition to the core game and additional DLC packs, the Wii U version will also have off-screen play and special theme packs designed in collaboration with Nintendo.

Minecraft: Wii U Edition is coming soon too! December 17th, at a price of $29.99.

I just meant it could have helped Wii U sales in 2012 or even 2013, but it's a moot point now, damn shame.

That said having it on NX at launch would be a big win I think, for parents who still haven't upgraded from the Xbox 360 or PS3 it would make NX a much more viable choice.

I thought Microsoft owned Minecraft now. Guess I was mistaken.

@Brick

They do. But they have not made it exclusive to Microsoft systems and it's available on practically everything.

Well in that case couldn't MS just pull the plug on that? Would they really wanna help NX out?

Yeah oddly enough they're still supporting other platforms, I'm really surprised they didn't make it exclusive to Xbox and Windows, cutting off Sony and Nintendo from one of the biggest video game franchises out there. I guess they crunched the numbers and it's more profitable to keep it on everything.

Yep, which doesn't exactly bode well for them? Thought they're making money off of Sony and Nintendo so I dunno...

Fuckin' M$ works in mysterious ways.

I feel like this is too late, every Kid already has Minecraft on something else.

There are still other kids that haven't played the game yet. People are always having more kids, so there will always be an audience for this stuff, I think.

Free Mario download for Minecraft players

They're adding a bunch of Mario assets to the Wii U version.

There is also a retail version of the game coming out. I wonder what it will cost and how soon before I can get it on sale...

@Mop it upIt'll be $29.99, same as the digital version. It includes the Mario add ons.

I imagine you'll start seeing a couple bucks off it here and there fairly soon.

Here is a curiosity question for anyone who has played this on PC: Is every version of this game as glitchy as this one is?

I got this game because a friend wanted me to, but I'm really starting to get tired of all the glitches. Stuff like consuming two food items with one button press I can deal with, but things like getting stuck in blocks or just straight-up freezes typically require reloading a save. With all the billions they've made on this game, I'd think they could at least afford to get it running smoothly...

I have the XBox One version and don't recall running into any glitches.

@Mop it up

My kid has been playing the Wii U version, and he hasn't reported or complained about any glitches.

Looking around, most of the glitches happen in online multiplayer (in all versions). Must be bad netcode or something. Bummer.
