Let's see how I did... Last-minute predictions!
Do you guys think we'll get any Dragon Quest news in this? DQ7, 8, and 11 would certainly beef up 2016's lineup.
-Iwata memorial, introduce new temporary presenter.
-At least one Smash newcomer shown. My money's on Wolf.
-Pokemon Z
-At least one uninteresting-looking game that has way too much time devoted to it (this Direct kept moving, good work Nintendo) -Splatoon update. New stage, new weapons, playable Octolings
-More amiibo. More exclusive amiibo. More inevitable amiibo shortages.
-Mario Tennis footage. Disappointing
-Animal Crossing footage. Disappointing
-Xenoblade X launch plans/footage
-An update on The Legend of Zelda Wii U. Jaws will drop!
Forgot to mention, there'll be Tri Force Heroes DLC mixed in there somewhere too.
Roll credits. General consensus will be mostly positive, albeit not blown away.Hey, not too bad if I say so myself. Mop it up said:I have heard that the 3DS version of DQ VII cleaned up the game some to make it less tedious and lengthy, so it might be better now. I don't know the specifics of what that means however, but we'll probably get some more details on that once the English version hits. Mm, tell me more... I'm gonna start looking into the 3DS versions of DQ7 and 8 now. Maybe I'm just on a DQ high, but those announcements were real highlights for me. Those and...surprisingly, Pokemon! Despite not having much interest in the franchise anymore, Pokemon Picross looks great and I'm even a little tempted by the GB VC ports.

Definitely getting TP HD. Looking forward to playing it again. Only 10 seconds of Zelda U footage, but 10 more seconds than I was expecting from this direct. And it was a glorious 10 seconds. I can't get over how great the art-style is, and how much of a perfect fit it is for Zelda.

Oh yeah. Haven't mentioned it yet since it was so short, but that looked outstanding and I'm glad the game's visual style hasn't seen a major overhaul. Link's tweaked design is looking great as well.

Cloud being in Smash Bros is pretty cool but I feel like with him and Ryu they really should have had a character to fight from their own franchise. I don't particularly care about Twilight Princess getting remade but it's nice to have as an option. Looks like less of an effort than the Wind Waker one received though. Overall, pretty good direct but I don't think there was anything really surprising aside from Cloud in Smash Bros. Amibo just seems to be getting more and more rampant and I really hope the impact on the next Zelda is minimal.

I don't think the visual upgrade is good enough to justify more than a $19.99 price tag, so I'll probably pass on TP:HD. It's good for those who have never played it or just really want HD though. I think Cloud is a good choice. It will make a lot of people happy. I'd personally prefer Black Mage with a stage that has more traditional Final Fantasy imagery or Crono, but Cloud is obviously very popular. Maybe FFVII Remake will even be on NX. More free Splatoon content is just plain generous and will hopefully pull me back in for awhile. I got really excited when they started to talk about Super Mario Maker, but the app thing was ultimately a letdown... but hey, maybe it really will be useful in finding cool courses.

Wow guys! TP HD they were pretty mum on besides including new Wolf Link amiibo. It looks like Link's a lefty again so the GCN version might be "canon." The non-flipped one. Zelda Wii U got about 8 seconds of footage of Link riding his horse in a vast field. It was gorgeous and they confirmed it for a 2016 date.

Probably doesn't mean anything for us non-Japanese, but Mother 3 is getting a Wii U VC release in the land of the rising sun next month.

@TriforceBunAll of that sounds great! Dragon Quest VIII is one of my favorite RPGs, but I wasn't sold on a direct port. It's good to know there's more to it than that!

@TriforceBunI'm so excited to play the "GCN" version in HD with lefty link! I always preferred that version for the camera controls but hated the fact in didn't have widescreen. It's going to be so pretty. Now here's hoping they truncate that intro!

I thought the Nintendo Direct was pretty good. Fun to watch. Some cool things they showed. For me personally, you know what was my game of the show though? Pokemon Picross. Unapologetically, that was it. I also love the new Splatoon stages coming. Oh and lastly, that 10 second snippet of next year's Zelda. I can't believe it's been FOUR years since Skyward Sword by the way.

How is Cloud even in Smash if he hasn't been in a Nintendo game? LOL did they make that Final Fantasy RPG on 3DS just to have and excuse to add him to Smash?

@JargonIt'd be cool to have some company! I've been on a big DQ kick lately but I timed it all wrong--everyone was talking about these games a lot more when they initially came out. Which is my fault for missing the boat, but I'm enjoying them now regardless, so no worries either way. I know the feeling of having a chunky backlog (in fact, DQ 5 and 6 were in it for years in my case). At least we'll all be on the same page next year when the next games hit! @BrickTechnically, he's got a playable role in both the 3DS Theatrhythms. I think he may have had some tiny cameo in a GBA Kingdom Hearts as well, but...it seems they want Smash to be more of a "gaming legends" thing these days rather than simply Nintendo legends. I guess I can understand that, but it doesn't really thrill me.

Watched this with Ninsage in my Old Man cave. Joe had to pay for door repairs. My thoughts: Meh. Give me Xenoblade already! I never beat Twilight Princess. I probably still won't, only because of the 5 heart container piece making one whole Heart Container being totally obnoxious. Why?? Why did they decide that?! GRRRRRRRRRRR Don't care too much about Pokeyman. Don't care too much about Jargon Quest. Cloud was cool. I enjoyed the "Playstation" text font popping up. Who's next?! Animal Crossing somehow almost made me convinced to play their month-long board game. MarryO Tennis looks more robust than the previous rumors and reports indicated. Still won't pay 60 bucks for it, though.

Question, and apologies if it has been answered here: Are DQ7 and 8 just ports of the PS2 games? Because... I'm pretty sure my wife already played 100+ hours of those, and when I told her they were coming she was like "So?" Is this just excitement over a 3DS version?

My sons and I loved the Direct! I can't wait to buy Zelda TP HD....YES!!!!!!!! The only thing better than this is Cloud in Super Smash Bros.! Hot damn, Motherf*cker! One of my alltime favorite games! Also, there has been much speculation that the FF7 Remake will end up on Nintendo's NX console. Makes sense, the timing will be right and Nintendo needs all the 3rd party support possible. Even if the Remake doesn't hit the NX, I'll still buy it on the PS4. I'm stating it here first that after the FF7 Remake hits the PS4, then it will hit Nintendo's NX console. Come back in a couple years, so I can gloat all over the place.
