I do have to say... I'm quite disappointed about the lack of Zelda footage. And since TP is coming out so late, that means Zelda U is even further out.
Not a bad Direct. No Iwata tribute, sadly, but he will live on in our hearts. I will have Pokemon Picross and Xenoblade on Day 1. Maybe I'll get a second job so I can afford Fire Emblem, too. :P (I will wait until it's cheaper to get all three and then get it.)
Pokemon Picross is VERY tempting. Dang, talk about something I never considered but now sounds like a great idea. Kinda bummed that it's free-to-play or whatever, I'd rather just buy it outright.
I'm excited about the DQ ports! Very cool that we're getting them. That said, I hear somewhat mixed things about DQ7. Mostly that it's EXTREMELY long--like over 100 hours just to finish. I'll get it though, I've been wanting to play through all the games in the series and this is a perfect way to get 7.
That's incredibly stupid. It should have been Terra!

Hear hear!
I always thought Mog or Black Mage would be perfect FF reps. But I guess Cloud's the face of the franchise for some reason. Whoa, looking above my post, Zero just said the same thing.
Cloud's fine. Obviously a gut reaction to a staged trailer (which was really well done and full of fanservice) but he doesn't seem all that unique a fighter, another swordy...

My thoughts exactly. That was a cool surprise that makes total sense in retrospect.
99% of what was shown were games we already knew about either through leaks or Japanese games that weren't announced for the West. But I was pretty happy with what we got. And then there's Pokemon Picross which I'm sure to love.
I'm super happy they are finally bringing Dragon Quest 7 & 8 here. Twilight Princess is my favorite 3D Zelda, so the HD version looks good. And they finally revealed the details of Fire Emblem Fates.
Would rather have seen someone from a game that's actually been available on a Nintendo system, and preferably something less overrated, but they do seem to have done a good job with Cloud's inclusion, so I guess I won't moan too much about it.
Eh, feel free to moan here. You're probably in similar company. Cloud is a pretty meh choice to me, he barely makes more sense than Snake did and his moveset looks way less interesting. I'll pass on him.
The Midgar stage looked incredible! I really wasn't expecting Cloud to make an appearance in the Super Smash Brothers series, but here we are. I've never played Final Fantasy VII, so some of the appeal is lost on me. I'm happy for those who are really excited about this announcement.
Speaking of VII, I'm super stoked that Dragon Quest VII is finally coming over! I love the designs of the main characters and I've been wanting to jump back into the Dragon Quest series for a while now.
I have heard that the 3DS version of DQ VII cleaned up the game some to make it less tedious and lengthy, so it might be better now. I don't know the specifics of what that means however, but we'll probably get some more details on that once the English version hits.
