I've actually regretted choosing the Wii U version over 3DS, so I'm totally going to get the physical release.

Let's see... I've backed this game on Kickstarter, purchased it on Steam for three of my friends, and now I'm buying it again for my handheld. I will have officially purchased more copies of Shovel Knight than Super Mario Bros 3 now.
Wow, that's impressive, that's like me and Steamworld Dig, I think I've bought that game four times now and it's currently loaded on every device I own capable of playing it.

For Shovel Knight I got the 3DS version as my backer copy, but then loved it so much bought it on Wii U as well, and the I also bought it for a friend! (who didn't end up liking it and never played it, what a loser!)

Same here. Wii U. 3DS. Steam. Beaten it for times across those platforms.

@deathly_hallows

Two of the three friends I bought it for barely touched it. I guess this is often the case when you buy people gifts, but Steam actually lets you confirm the fact that they hate the sweater and never wear it. Hah.

@DrFinkelstein

I am very happy about the Humble Bundle for introducing me to Steamworld Dig. I was aware that the game existed and was getting a very positive response, but it never appealed to me based on the screenshots and such... I had to play it to realize how awesome and addictive it is. I'll definitely get the sequel much sooner!

@Mop it up

Well, I'm sure Mario 3 will always hold the record of most times I've purchased a game for myself!

Whoa! You took it one step further, I beat the games on the 3DS and Vita but I also have it on PS4, Wii U, and Mac, but I've never really played those versions. I'll probably play it on Wii U someday, it's the closest to the 3DS version with the map and inventory on the 2nd screen.

I CANNOT WAIT FOR STEAMWORLD HEIST!!!! It's going to be magnificent.

So far I'm leaning towards getting the 3DS version of the game. I like GameDadGrants point about the 8bit style on that type of setup. That could work for me.

@deathly_hallows

Beat it twice on Steam. Back to back. Did a speed run literally after seeing the credits. It took a little over 2 hours. Fucking love that game. And will certainly pick up the rather different SteamWorld Heist.
