E3 was earlier this month and we sure do have an onslaught of podcasts coming your way. I'm trying my best to edit them quick but after a series of unfortunate events (and a lack of sleep) I have finally gotten this first one out! It's got a lot packed into it too! We recorded this on the Wednesday of E3 2015 and all in all, between the hosts, guests, and a special segment you'll find the following awesome Negative Worlders! We've got, Michael (Pokefreak911), Lou (TheOldManFromZelda), and Anand (Anand) as main guests. Then we have a special segment with Grant (GameDadGrant), Paul (Ploot), and Dave (BeardedNerd). Then finally of course there's Joe (Ninsage) and Stephen (DrFinkelstein) hosting the whole thing.

For each episode, we asked each guest a series of five questions relating to Nintendo, E3, or some combo of the two. Once we gained some specific general perspective from each guest we dove into specific topics relating to E3 that each guest wanted to bring to the table. In this first episode Pokefreak911 wanted to talk about Nintendo's Overall Presentation and of course Xenoblade Chronicles X. TheOldManFromZelda chats about Star Fox Zero and The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes. Finally Anand talks about Super Smash Bros. DLC for Wii U and 3DS while also bringing his own special topic about perception to the show. Be sure to click the links which will take you to the various trailers where relevant.

You'll find a special segment sandwiched between the five answers segment from Joe and I and the first guest. In it is about ten minutes of immediate discussion that occurred right after the Super Smash Bros. Nintendo Direct that kicked off Nintendo's E3 week. I had been over at Ploot's house with BeardedNerd and GameDadGrant where we watched it live. Then we discussed briefly. All three of those guys will be actual guests in Episodes 81 and 82 but it's a fun mini-segment anyway.

Music for the episode is borrowed from a few sources; Xenoblade Chronicles X, The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes, and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS. The show's theme music is from Negative World site owner and operator, Zero.

Please comment on the topics, the podcast, the guests, hosts, etc. on Negative World! You can also reach us through Facebook or Twitter. If you find us on iTunes, please write us a little review there! We would really appreciate the feedback. It's the best way for us to know what makes our listeners happy and we'd love to respond to some things on future episodes. We mean it!

@Beardednerd

Already listened? Wonderful! Thanks for the feedback. Episode 81 is already being edited! I'll try to complete it before I leave for my 4th of July weekend. Episode 82 is probably being edited after and then we'll record episode 83.

I listened to it today. Good stuff!

I liked all of the segments, except for the ones with GameDadGrant. What a rude lout. I'd rather not hear him ever again on a podcast.

@GameDadGrant

That makes sense. From what I understand the guy's a bit of a jerk.

@Beardednerd

And he'll be on the next episode!

Good show, y'all! Except for that guy who kept talking over everybody. What was HIS issue?

Actually, I couldn't really hear the other guys while I was talking. That's why it might have seemed like I cut people off one or two times. That's my story, anyway.

Anyway, the amount of puppet love on that podcast really warmed my heart. It warmed my soft, puppet heart.

It looks like a lot of us had similar answers to the E3 questions. Looking forward to hearing what the other NW folk have to say. (But, man, I sure don't envy Stephen's editing workload. Keep on keepin' on, Stephen!)

It's possible you couldn't hear us. Skype might have auto corrected when you wanted to talk.

Glad you enjoyed the puppets. I think everyone did… but you'll have to listen to find out!

Editing-wise, it's not too bad. Last week Monday we had that crazy storm and I slept like hell/couldn't edit. This led to a long week of lack of sleep and energy and time to edit so that's why this was later than hoped. I'm onto Guest 3 of Episode 81 so I hope I can knock it out before I leave for my holiday weekend. Then finish episode 82 next week.

No freakin' way I'm playing Xenoblade on a 3DS. My file where I have roughly 4 billion hours left to play on my Wii will do just fine, thank you.

OMG!! Episode 80, plus ep. 81 is being edited as I type!! I had no idea this we are upto #80. I've gotta alot of listening to do, but I also have plenty of free time, just sitting around the house everyday is starting to get to me. Don't get me wrong, I love being able to finally catch up on all these games in my backlog, but at the same time, it is really hard to just sit in the same position for hours on end. Its weird in a way, when I was a younger lad, back in my teens, 20s and even 30s, it never seemed to bother me much to sit on the couch and kill, say 5, 10 or even more hours in one sitting. Of course I'd break those up with bathroom breaks, food breaks, ect.

Now, for some reason, it just seems 'harder' to sit still for such long periods. Even though I really don't have much else to do right now, plus its just what the doctor ordered and believe it or not, actually playing videogames has actually been helping and even the doctor says it is a great way to help rehabilitate myself, all the concentration, hands to eye coordination stuff is actually recommended. Evenso, I actually feel guilty at times for just sitting around so much. I do find myself taking Snowy, (my dog) out for more walks than I used to.

Anyways, I need to go back and check to see which podcast was the last one I listened to. It should be easy, whichever one is the last one on my 3ds or downloaded on my pc. Hmmmm...maybe its not as many as I'm thinking, but I can't remember to listening to any this year...that can't be right, I'm sure I listened to at least one or two at the beginning of the year. Oh well, only one way to find out!

Thanks again guys, Stephen, Joe and all the others who have helped participate and make the NW podcasts a success! I really do enjoy listening to all of them. I think I mentioned this previously, awhile back....WE NEED MORE EUPHONIC PODCASTS!!! I miss listening to those, I know I've listened to the four or five that Stephen and Joe recorded at least 10 times each. I'm sure its more. When I was working, I really liked listening to those specific podcasts cause the music really helped the time to pass quickly and made work so much more bearable. I just remembered, there are those radio trivia podcasts on NWR! I listened to my first one several months back and it was so cool and interesting. I only listened to that one and there was another, but that was it. I have no idea how many there are, but I think there are over 100. Even if I'm wrong, I'm sure there is more than enough to keep me occupied, couple those with all the NW and RFN podcasts I need to catch up on, plus play more videogames. All this free time isn't going to last forever. In all seriousness, It'll be cool to get back to normal, but I am enjoying this free time as well.

@gamewizard65

Indeed we are at episode 80! We recorded episode 80, 81, and 82 all last week back to back in honor of E3. Did the thing we did some years back where there was a schedule and we had guests change about every 40-45 minutes. It was great. I'm excited to release them and have you all listen to them.

While I know a bit about the reason you're under doctor's orders, I hope you have continued progress and I hope these shows can help pass the time.

As for the Euphonic shows, I know I know! It's been over a year since we had one I think. Joe and I wanted to focus on the primary shows because schedules weren't keeping those consistent. We've discussed different ways to continue doing them (and in a recent episode around the announcement of Yooka-Laylee we kinda had one inside a normal episode) but it's always on my mind. Did you feel it was a good format? Totally happy with it?

Was everyone else totally happy with the Euphonic?

Not to dissuade you from Negative World-based podcasts but Radio Trivia from NWR is one of my favorite podcasts and I've listened to damn near all of them. They're in the 130s now I believe. I definitely recommend them. I've been keeping a document of which games were on it as I listen so I know which episodes I liked the most (for re-listen purposes). I know there's a master list somewhere but I don't think it's organized like mine.

Alas, glad you're doing well. Glad you're gaming more. Glad you're listening to our podcasts.

P.S. There were seven total Euphonics I believe. Five standard. One Remix. And One specific to K.K. Slider.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, because we're secretly the same person underneath everything, but Anand's stance on the ideology of showing games vs. when they're actually released is pretty much mine.

I don't know if I've said it, and I don't know much about it, but I don't understand how they can continually get points for showing Last Guardian stuff. You know, if you're that late to ANYTHING in real life, you're fired / divorced / dead. Gaming world? People stand on chairs and freak out. Same with the Final Fantasy 7 remake. I felt apathetic about Wind Waker as Anand did (though I'm well aware that was The Coolest for many people here), and viewed it more as a 'ok, theres a chance for people to play it who haven't already,' but give me something new. What can they really do with Final Fantasy 7 that they didn't do before? MORE FMV (now with speech)?? A softer, more feminine face for Cloud / Sephiroth? More realistic tits on Tifa? Whats the gist here?? I don't get it.

Wow you perv :P

@Mr_Mustache
You only have 4 billion hours? Man, you are barely anywhere!

Geez I seem really out of practice when it comes to talking about stuff. Also my voice sounds different to me for some reason.
Also, Pacific Rim was a great movie and deserves to be talked about even more.

I was also a fan of Euphonic. A great podcast to listen to with headphones.

Also, I forgot to mention this when Joe brought up the fact that Shenmue, FFVII, and The Last Guardian were all requested during the pre-E3 hubbub. Y'know, about how gamers 'willed' them into existence, or whatnot. That was totally astroturfing, right? Planned leakage?

@Mr_Mustache
It almost sounds like you've played FFVII! But how can that be possible?!

Anyway, Sony's flagship game for 2015 is the perception game.

@Pokefreak911
I honestly do think Pacific Rim would appeal to anyone who enjoys Japanese craziness, in general.

@GameDadGrant

Well, if the more lifelike boobs are the angle, then I'm on board.

WHERE'S A KICKSTARTER FOR THAT?!

@Anand

I HAVE played Final Fantasy VII. Jason let me borrow his PS1 many moons ago. I got up to the point where you needed to train about 50 chocobos in order to learn Alexander or something. I was probably right on the doorstep to beating the game. Alas..

Ugh, I hate being behind on the podcasts. Being off the previous two weeks backed me up a bit, and training newbies leaves me little time to listen. Tomorrow hopefully. And there's episode 81 as well. Jeepers!

@Koovaps

Finally got to this one last week. Very good stuff as always. Even though we're well past it at this point, it's cool getting fresh perspectives shortly after the event. One thing that sits with me after thinking about it is the seeming need to directly correlate the Digital Event with the press conferences. A 45 minute video will never really stack up well against a 1:30+ live conference. Taken as a whole week-long event, though, and it definitely looks better. Sure, still no big surprises, but perception improves.

Listening to everybody was fun. It's always a treat to hear Michael from down-under, Lou is solid as ever, and Anand is as Anand-y as can be. I would have it no other way. The 5 question format with a deeper topic format was an excellent way to format these episodes. I enjoyed it very much. The bonus segment was also great with Paul and Grant and Dave. I'd love nothing more than to get a chance to hang with you guys. And as an aside, I love the segment connectors with past and future Stephen. Makes me giggle, what can I say.

And the biggest thanks of all to Stephen and Joe, who were there for it all. Very, very well done, sirs. Thank you so much for these great podcasts. I'll get to the next two very soon.
