The E3 30% off sale on 3DS is pretty great! Games like Super Mario 3D Land, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Starfox 64 3D, Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Fire Emblem: Awakening being $27.99 or less are a STEAL.

But I'd like to make a special mention to anyone that hasn't already downloaded Fantasy Life - it is also on sale right now (until the 23rd) for $27.99.

Definitely worth the price (so I've been told) - so check it out if you're interested!

@GameDadGrant

That is worth the price for fantasy life. But it's also worth full price too.

Meanwhile, in Europe, it seems the only new thing we're getting at all is Xeodrifter. I hope I read the lists wrong, 'cause that's not a whole lot.

I highly recommend Sacred Stones. It has a great cast, a somber tone unlike any other FE in the west, and a cooler color palette compared to its GBA counterpart's more washed out palette. I love the characters from a utility and narrative perspective and the gameplay takes a unique direction with some horror inspired enemies. Some complain that it's too easy compared to other FE games, but Sacred Stones is no walk in the park. In quite a few ways, this is the Majora's Mask of Fire Emblem.

Maybe we could play through it in the Epic Center? HINT HINT NUDGE NUDGE.

@Hero_Of_Hyrule It also has some subtle hints that the twin protagonists may be a little too close...

I also recommend Sacred Stones if you like Fire Emblem, but it's merely another great game in the series, rather than one of the few that really stand out.

Sacred Stones is a great place to jump into the Fire Emblem series...the difficulty is tame compared to, say, Shadow Dragon or Radiant Dawn.

Sacred Stones was one of the 3DS Ambassador games, right? We don't like to double dip in this house. (If so, I already have a game started on Nikki's 3DS, though my hands hate it.)

@Mr_Mustache

Yeah, that was the Ambassador Fire Emblem game.

Wait, do you actually have to pay real money to use the 3DS as a Smash controller, or by "purchase" do they just mean download?

@GameDadGrant This is true, though by this point you can find most of those cheaper at retail if you look around.

@ludist210

Cool beans, thanks. (Star Fox Command is a DS game, right? I saw on a release calendar that thats coming next week?)

EDIT- And while we're here, it looks like I'm going to need to buy an External Drive real soon. Is there a consensus BEST DRIVE for Nintendo? How big do we go? Is 1TB enough? Too big? I sincerely have no idea.

@Zero
No, the damn app actually costs you a buck. Ridiculous doesn't even begin to describe it. I'm surprised it's not Amiibo activated.

@Mr_Mustache

Star Fox Command is the DS game, correct...pretty solid one too if you like SF64's all-range mode stages.

I've got a 1TB. Around 30 retail games (I think it's 28 for sure, but I don't remember off-hand), around 30 eShop games, the nine Nindies@Home games, and a ton of VC games (probably close to 90) and it's not even half full yet.

@ludist210

Thanks, bud. (EDIT- Sorry, again: are there any things I should AVOID? Brands? Spindle Speeds? Form Factors? I don't know what any of these things mean or matter.)

EDIT AGANE- I found this list on Nintendo's site, so I'm pawing through that now. Thanks again, Ludaaaaa! (Though if you see something that seems FAR BETTER than what they're trying to point me towards, don't hesitate to speak up!)

@Mr_Mustache

This is the one I'm using...sorta. There used to be a 1TB model (I got this when the Wii U came out in 2012). Now the smallest they make is a 2TB. I've never had an issue with it.

@ludist210

Hmm.. They recommend using one with a "dedicated power source (ie: AC adapter);" I wonder how important that is?

Thanks for the link though, checking it out now. I actually did want a smaller size one since I've had nothing but trouble with big chunky F'ers at work. I can't tell you how much data I've lost.

@Mr_Mustache

That one has a dedicated power source. It works excellent.

Just for the record: I had an external HDD without power source lying around, so I gave that a shot using a Y-cable for extra sauce from the Wii U, and it's worked perfectly so far.

Nothing this week but I will be getting Partners in Time when that comes out. Only M&L I never played.
