Nintendo on Facebook said:
PK THUNDER! Starting at 8 a.m. PT on June 14, Lucas is available to purchase as a downloadable character in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS

An update released at the same time will also add Splatoon Mii Fighter costumes and a new Wii U Miiverse stage.

Very cool news. I'm surprised they didn't wait till the show... interesting move.

Lucas will be $3.99 for either the 3DS or Wii U versions, or $4.99 as a bundle for both versions.

Sweeeet. Does that mean they aren't showing Smash stuff at E3 this year? Still, the video is getting released on the 14th, so it IS during E3 time, I guess. I just want as much Smash stuff shown as possible.

Pretty good fan-made Smash intro video (that some people were mistaking as real):

It actually seems like Nintendo may be interested in that for a lot of their games. I'm disappointed they ignored 3D World for DLC. I'd jump on anything they could release for that game so hard.

Splatoon could use single player stuff as well. And why not stuff for DKCTF?

That's quite a well done video. It definitely abuses the notion that Americans can't read Japanese and runs with it. I thought it was great. I wish it were real.

Haha, man. That'd be quite a lot of new faces!

So since this predates E3 can we assume Smash won't be in the presentation? If so, any new chars will be revealed then and only then? I doubt he's throwing a Direct out there just for a character we know about, a new stage, and other small additions. It's Sakurai. It's Smash.

Hoping we see Ryu and maybe update on new chars like the ballot stuff.

@TriforceBun@Hero_Of_Hyrule I guess I'll have to watch the trailer and see if I can spot the reference.

@carlosrox Well the Direct starts at 7:40am PT, 20 minutes before Lucas is available. So the Direct will be 20 minutes at most, I'd assume.

I think he's going to spend a decent amount of time talking about the Miiverse stage. We'll need a way to post our character-specific cheers to Miiverse, so that they can show up in the stage, and he may explain/show how it's done. Lucas, too, might take up a few minutes, if Sakurai wants to go in-depth on his differences from Ness. And I'm sure he'll go into detail on the Tourneys/Tournaments mode as well, since we haven't heard anything about those since the Wii U version Direct in September. So there might not be a lot of time left for brand new upcoming content. I wouldn't bet on new characters being revealed this early after Mewtwo and Lucas both just came out.

But hey, last year's E3 Direct presentation started with the Mii Fighters, ended with Palutena, and then Pac-Man was revealed behind closed-doors the next day, right? You never know how they're gonna structure this stuff.

I think we can count on the next character DLC being revealed towards the end of the direct. I'm betting on Roy, leaving an opportunity to announce Ryu (if he is real) during the digital event.

I just realized that Ploot, Beardednerd, GameDadGrant, and I will be off to have lunch and beer together when this happens. Shoot... maybe Ploot or BeardedNerd can stream it on their phones?

Maybe you guys can hit my house first, we can watch it then grab food? I'm pretty psyched for this direct!

Well, in talking with Beardednerd last night, I was thinking of trying to get into two as early as possible. Then check out Dave's place just to see it. From there go to lunch. But I mean, we could watch it at your place or maybe Dave's? Lets talk on FB chat.
