Well this is a surprise. I might need to get down to Florida.

Orlando Sentinel said:
"Universal theme parks offer incredibly popular, innovative themed family entertainment experiences based on compelling stories and characters using powerful storytelling and innovative technology," the companies said in a joint statement. " Nintendo has created remarkable and imaginative worlds filled with captivating stories and beloved characters. Now, for the first time, those stories and characters will be brought to life in entirely new ways only at Universal theme parks."

Haven't been to a theme park in close to 17 years, but I might be inclined to check this out.

Super Nintendo World!

Not a ton of new info, but we've got a name (at least for the Universal Japan park), and some nice-looking concept art that makes my inner child excited. The only thing is that I'm hoping for more representation than just Mario.

The name makes me think it's focusing on the Super NES, but I take it that isn't the case?

@Mop it up
Well according to the concept art I see more 3D World/Land style influence.

At least it doesn't look like NintendoLand. Barf.

I think the name is just what it'll be in Japan. It seems like a very "Japanese" name.

Can we say, from that photo, that it's a little too much Mario? I'd rather see things like Samus's warship and stuff like that than Peach's Castle.

Oh man, there's going to be Wind Waker water ride, isn't there? There has to be!

I would be 100% down for a Negative World meetup at the Orlando location when this opens.

@Scrawnton

Yep, I think even Carlos was down with that idea.

More juicy details.

Per gonintendo:

The gang over at ThemeParkUniversity say they've gotten some inside info on Universal's plans for Zelda-themed content at their parks. This info supposedly comes from multiple inside sources.

- Zelda section will replace the entire Lost Continent at Islands of Adventure
- will stretch from Seuss Landing all the way to Hogsmeade and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter

There's also some other rumored tidbits about how the rest of Nintendo's attractions at Universal Studios' parks will place out.

- the scope of the project changed as the strategy to compete with Disney became more aggressive
- Universal decided to scrap the plans for Universal Studios Florida to get all the Nintendo content
- Nintendo content will now be at 3 locations: Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure and the yet-to-be-named new park
- the Mario Kart attraction that will open at Universal Studios Japan was slated for Universal Studios Florida
- now it will open in the Universal park down the road
- Nintendo land at USF was supposed to feature Zelda attractions as well as Pokemon and Kirby
- Zelda attractions were moved and expanded upon to Islands of Adventure

This is all very delicious information. However, when the heck is this all going to debut?!? I feel like they keep adding to the list. My kids are gonna be in college by the time they open this puppy up!
