Mega May Starts Next Week – Voting is now over. Check back on May 7 to see which classic Mega Man game fans decided should be released first. For the entire month of May, Nintendo and Capcom are celebrating everyone’s favorite blue bomber with six game releases in the Virtual Console on Wii U. The Game Boy Advance versions of Mega Man Zero 2, Mega Man Battle Network 3 Blue, Mega Man Battle Network 3 White, Mega Man Battle Network 4 Red Sun, Mega Man Battle Network 4 Blue Moon and Mega Man & Bass will land in the Nintendo eShop throughout the month.
Not terribly excited for amiibo tap, but at least it's free! Would've been cheesy to charge people for the game when they've already paid for the amiibos. I remember seeing an in-store amiibo kiosk that let you select a character and then it showed a highlight reel of their games. This is probably some modified version of that. I remember the presentational values being pretty cool in it.
So I have 2 amiibos, Mario and Toad, does this mean I get to play 2 Mario game "demos" over and over? Or will it continue to unlock multiple Mario games each time I scan one?
@cooliocuneo You scan one Amiibo, which will then be designated a random game from the list of classics. Every time you scan the Amiibo after that you will be treated to a three minute demo of the game in question. For instance, every time I scan my Mega Man Amiibo I get to play a couple of levels from Kirby Super Star. My Ness Amiibo lets me play some Super Mario World.
I was under the impression that you could be treated to various portions of the classic games when you scan, but so far I've only gotten to start at the same levels every time, so maybe I've just misunderstood what was being said.
I'm always interested in anything Mario, it's a problem. I don't really know what Puzzle 'n Dragons is all about, so I guess I should check out that demo.
So I tried Amiibo Tap. My Kirby amiibo unlocked The Legend of Zelda. There are 8 scenes to choose from: the very start of the game, and seven boss battles. Which is kinda cool, actually. I wasn't expecting that many choices, and with 3 minutes to play, you can actually explore a little bit after each one.
Most importantly, Kirby's Dream Course is unlockable. Any selection of "Nintendo's Greatest Bits" would be incomplete without it.
I also tried the Mario Puzzle & Dragons demo. It seems like it might be a decent game, but this is a really bad demo: it's clear the game has its complexities and hooks, but they go largely unexplained. There's two courses, Intro and Expert. They both give you a tutorial beforehand, but neither manages to explain what seem to be core concepts of the game. Do the different elements have meaning? How exactly do Combos and Group Attacks increase your attack power? How does character progression work? What do you spend coins on? I pretty easily cruised through the Intro course, and then the Expert course killed me a few times, and when I did finally succeed I didn't really know what I'd done differently.
