Chrono versus Mega Man 2 is the only toughhhhhh one for me but I went with Mega Man 2 because it was a more defining game for me at the time, while Chrono, despite being amazing, was just another in a string of great SNES RPGs.

-FFVI is my favorite third-party game, period. It's one of the most defining gaming experiences of my life.
-Pretty close, but I gotta give it to Chrono. Another great Square RPG.
-Definitely RE4, the last time that really felt like Nintendo scored the most technologically impressive game in the world.
-Ehhh...only played about an hour of both. I'll give it to Half-Life 2 since I wasn't quite as impressed with Portal as everyone else.

You did yourself a disservice by only playing Portal (2?) for about an hour. The games shine in their writing and atmosphere, and the puzzles are just the right amount of challenging.
