I got the game. I find it very fun and the 3D is amazing. It's especially when certain background items show up in parts. I'm sure the fact that they got it to run in 60 fps helps (the original arcade was only 30 fps). As far as how it holds up... I guess that depends on what you're expecting. There's not a lot to the game, you're just driving through interesting areas trying to get to that next checkpoint. Unfortunately they can't emulate the feel of you sitting in the old arcade car with the steering wheel, pedals and all that. But they do what they can. There's even an option to hear the sound of the pedals or shifter if you want. Honestly the amount of work M2 puts into these games makes me what to buy them all whether I played them before or not.

Thanks for the impressions! I'll probably pick it up soon. Right now I just have too many games on the go.

Another question: If I'm going to buy Might Switch Force 2, am I better off getting it on 3DS or Wii U? Is one version better than the other?

@Jargon I'd expect NA territories to get DKC Returns and Kirby's Return, since PAL territories already have them. And Japan already has Pandora's Tower and is getting Sin & Punshment 2 soon, so maybe those will come our way as well. But it's Nintendo, and the Virtual Console, so who knows.

The game is the same on both platforms, but the Wii U version's visuals weren't updated at all to take advantage of the WIi U's HD display. So you'll basically be playing the 3DS game, but blown up to huge proportions on your TV. It looks sharper (and in 3D!) on the handheld.

Pretty sure that's the only difference, so you can make your choice accordingly.

Just to add my own two cents: I bought the Wii U version yesterday, and I don't think it necessarily lacks sharpness, but it's definitely very pixely. I think that looks good too, though, in a retro sort of way.

@GameDadGrant @r_hjort

If it's the exact same game on both platforms, then I'll just get it for the 3DS. I did like the 3D effect of the first one, and it seems like the perfect type of game to play in short bursts.

Thanks for the input, guys.

@r_hjort

Yeah, it's pixely on Wii U. That's what I meant. Same thing happened for Shantae and the Pirate's Curse. I wonder why WayForward didn't do a proper HD version like they did for the first Mighty Switch Force! game?

@canonj

Cool man. It does work really well as a handheld game. To be honest, at the sale price you really couldn't make a bad decision.
