Yeah... but then I saw that Majora's Mask themed XL and I caved. At least I had a 75$ gift card to use from Christmas! And it sold out pretty much immediately.

I just nabbed my pre order of the Zelda Majora's Mask new 3ds XL from Gamestop. I had to go into the store and have them use their online service because even though it's not selling online anymore you can still do it through the store. Because I guess they get some sort of other login there's still another stock there. so I would recommend you guys go check it out.

I'm asking a friend to help me out with this, since he works at Gamestop. Worst comes to worst, I'll go to the store nearest me and deal with those morons.

Hmm... some thoughts

Fire Emblem: too soon, too many other dead franchises being neglected. Spread the love Nintendo!

Cross Buy? Hell yes! About time. I hope this becomes more common. Gosh what if MH4 was like this?

Amiibos... what. the. hell. Hey kids you have to erase you Smash Bros. data to play this new game, and btw we're now flat out calling Amiibos "Smash Bros. Series Amiibos" even though they're supposed to work with lots of games, for really cool stuff like... adding a toad sprite to Treasure Tracker... wha????

Wii VC games? This is great! But what about GCN? Also having Metroid Prime Trilogy available makes me more bummed than ever that it doesn't support standard controls. Motion controls: BOO!!!!!

Splatoon looks AMAZING! Love the art style. So good.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Looks a little last-gen-y, saw a lot of sparse environments, jaggies, and pop-in, and the characters looked pretty low-fidelity, almost not as good as some PS3 games like FFXIII. I guess this is my fault for expecting miracles, it's a stark reminder that the Wii U is still more-or-less a generation behind.

New 3DS, only the XL? Awwww...... I wanted the cool face plates and what not. DAMN! Also every time I see that nubbin' instead of a proper circle pad I want to punch myself in the face repeatedly.

S.T.E.A.M is Valkyria Chronicles, Bill. Not a bad thing, but don't take credit for a gameplay system you didn't create.

Monster Hunter 4: So good. So much good.

Majora's Mask: OMG a camera, thank goodness, now only if they would have added it to OoT, can they patch it? Seriously, it's the definitive version of the game it shouldn't be lacking this feature.

Majora's Mask SE 3DS... hmm.... not as sexy as the Link's Awakening SE, still pretty cool

All in all, some neat stuff, some baffling stuff...

I ended up watching the new Xeno trailer through my fingers to avoid getting too spoiled. It. Looks. Beautiful.

Fun Direct! 3DS is pretty lively again - and take it from me the New 3DS XL is worth every penny.

Is anyone interested in Ironfall?

++New Fire Emblem? I'm mostly ecstatic, but actually a little overwhelmed. Awakening has so much content on its own that I'd be content to play that one for years. Regardless, it's one of the best games on the system so I don't think I'd be able to pass on a new one. Looks really good.

+Wii VC games is a cool idea, although I already own pretty much everything I want on Wii.
-My 3 Metroid Prime Trilogy sealed copies will probably lose value now! Yikes!

+Wave 4 amiibo...STARRING NESS, BABY.
-Too bad that it'll be impossible to find anything since Nintendo's still being knuckleheads about distribution. Sell 'em off your site already!

+/- Continued amiibo use looks like more semi-cool things that you don't really need in the long run. That's probably for the best.

-I'm sick of these puzzle games that just FILL the screen constantly and have you match three colors. They feel so mindless, it's not clear what goal you're working towards. Pass!
--Pokemon Shuffle microtransaction nonsense? Mixed in with a fill-the-screen style puzzle? Shame on Nintendo for adopting modern gaming's worst practice!

++Splatoon continues to amaze. I already knew it was incredibly fun, but it's shaping up to be rather feature-packed now to boot. Hopes are high.

+Kirby and the Rainbow Curse looks very nice, and the models/trophies are jaw-dropping to me. Seriously, they look amazing. I'm hoping this game has enough content to warrant the buy.

+/- Hyrule Warriors' MM DLC is surprising. Tingle is creepy and looks like a fun pick, but Young Link is kinda boring, masks notwithstanding.

+ New 4P 3rd-party game? Sounds like it might be solid.

+In general, there're more 3DS games coming in the first few months than expected. I think Nintendo's doing a good job prepping people for the New 3DS's release in February. Tying it in with MM3D is a smart move, particularly with the N3DS MM edition. That said, I'm probably passing on all of dat.

+/- Xenoblade 3DS looks like a pretty big downgrade, to be honest. The scope of that game just doesn't come through as well with those chunky graphics. That said, Chronicles X still seems to be shaping up to be great.

Pretty good Direct. Splatoon and Fire Emblem were the stars this time around, IMO.

Didn't end up waking up for it, but I'm probably glad I didn't. Sounds under whelming.

Even Wii VC doesn't offer much excitement, until that is we see games I never got to own and really wanted. I guess I missed a few Wii titles, but most probably won't ever be sold, like Fragile Dreams. I forever hate myself for not getting that. Obviously I own SMG2, but I'm interested in Punchout. Never even played it. That recent Punchout thread title intrigues me.

Xenoblade trailer seems to be most interesting thing to me, though I'd appreciate more of a story trailer. No English dub? Good. For this game I really want original JP voices.

Haven't seen any of the Splatoon stuff. I'm sure it's great.

Zelda and Starfox or anything new beyond that cryptic Treasures game wasn't even hinted at? Kinda lame.

@carlosrox

Get Punch-Out. Get Punch-Out. Get Punch-Out. Get Punch-Out. Get Punch-Out. Get Punch-Out. Get Punch-Out. Get Punch-Out.

@carlosrox
I highly doubt we won't get an English dub, it's just probably not finished or ready yet. Unless they've confirmed no English dub which would be silly.

@TriforceBun
I'm going to hold off on judging Shuffle too much until I get my hands on it.

@GameDadGrant
It looked fun, but I don't think I would end up playing it :/

It looks fine considering the world is massive, it just looks like a PS3 game and I thought maybe they'd somehow magically make this game look more on par with current gen, still have hope that Wii U packs more punch that it seems. It's not an issue, the art is cool and imaginative, the world is colorful and varied, the gameplay and story will probably be excellent and that's what matters.

It looks a little generic, and I'm not a huge fan of the Gears style of shooting, but I'll probably but it anyway because I want to support small teams making western-style games on the 3DS, not a fan how everything is Japanese now, it's too one-sided for me.

@deathly_hallows
Ok then. Honestly I could care less about the fidelity of the graphics, I just love how everything is designed and the colours. Enemies look really cool and the geography of areas looks awesome.
Xenoblade Chronicles wasn't much of a looker either, but it still blew me away. I guarantee that the graphics won't bother you in the slightest after a while if you get the game.

I am extremely satisfied with how everything turned out with this nintendo direct. I was a little bummed at first to find out Wii U doesnt run its OS while also running the downloadable Wii games (like a regular VC game) but it do love how the moment I exit the game the system reboots. It just removes several annoying steps. It is just like playing psone and ps2 classics on my ps3. I love the feature.

Just now seeing the New 3DS requires the micro SD cards...........

@Pokefreak911
Exactly, and the world is gigantic so it doesn't really matter if characters faces and hair etc. are super detailed when you zoom way in. I'm just interested in this from a "what if" standpoint. What if they someday get back to making Metroid or F-Zero, just how good could those games look? We know Nintendo can nail the cartoony style of their big franchises but what if a team really tried to push Wii U to it's limits? Like RE4 on GCN or Galaxy on Wii, games that just seem to defy common sense with how amazing they look lol.

@missypissy
I know! I hate that! But I think I've decided to not transfer my games/data from my current 3DS XL, just make an alt email account and sign up with an secondary NNID. What's really going to be a pain is for the people who have massive 16 or 32GB SD cards filled to the brim and who will want to transfer over all their games, they'll have to use a PC to copy them? Or something? I dunno but it will it won't be an easy transfer process without simply being able to switch out the SD cards the way you can now.

Gosh this almost makes me wish I would have stuck to buying games on cart.

So you guys aren't getting the blue XL? Huh.

Unique colour, yay!

I thought the Wii VC games thing was interesting, and given the sale price Imight even jump on Punch Out. Trilogy would be a steal too, even though I already have a copy...

I'm super happy about the pricing on Wii games though. $26 AUD is real cheap for a first party title.

@Pokefreak911

Down to $13 with the discount. If Trilogy is priced the same it's going to be really hard for me not to jump. That's great value.

A quick search of EBay found a PAL copy selling for $140 a few months ago. I wonder how much those prices are gonna tumble now.

Downloading Galaxy 2 for $10!!!!! FREAKING AWESOME!

I thought for sure Nintendo would charge something crazy, like $50 for Wii games, or at least $30, this is such a pleasant surprise.

@Shadowlink
Pretty much.

I'll be in for MPT and Galaxy 2. It's too bad they didn't get an HD treatment though. A lot of these games don't look great when blown up.
