Nintendo has announced they will be streaming the new Super Smash Bros. for 3DS for eight hours on Twitch this Friday, September 12 starting at 1:00 p.m. eastern/10:00 a.m. pacific. Bookmark their Twitch page ASAP because that's where they're streaming it (I'm unsure if it's going to be on their YouTube channel as well). More details as they become available...

HEADS-UP: To those avoiding Smash Bros. leak spoilers, don't look at the comments section of Nintendo's twitch tv vids. Many people are discussing the final SSB roster.

Why not sign up for a (free) account?

Captain Toad looks like a friggin' fantastic puzzler.

Also: The death screen in the game features a Toad skull! Ever see one of those before? It comes swooping in like the Bowser head silhouette in a Mario game. CAPS LOCK INDUCINGLY AWESOME.

@missypissy Sounds like we'll get the download codes through email. I didn't see the announcement on the stream, but per Siliconera: "Nintendo will send 4 codes for the demo out to select Platinum members via e-mail later today, they said."

@carlosrox
Still going, currently playing NES Remix for 3DS. I suspect we're not gonna get Smash footage (3DS, not Wii U) until much later today, and that they rely on people waiting for that in order to make them watch all the other games first.

To make the wait for the launch of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS on Oct. 3 easier, Nintendo is giving fans four different ways to experience a demo version of the game.

Today, Club Nintendo members who have achieved Platinum status between July 1, 2013, and June 30, 2014, have registered Nintendo 3DS hardware or software, and have opted in to receive emails from Club Nintendo will receive an email containing four download codes for the demo.

Nintendo encourages recipients of the Club Nintendo demo to share the three extra codes with friends who also own Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo 2DS systems. Together they can play along through local wireless multiplayer, even if those three friends aren’t Club Nintendo members. The Club Nintendo demo of the game features an unlimited play count, five playable characters (Mario, Link, Pikachu, Villager and Mega Man), one stage (Battlefield) and the ability to compete in local multiplayer matches with fellow Nintendo 3DS owners who have downloaded the demo to their systems. The Club Nintendo demo codes must be redeemed before Sept. 19.

All Nintendo 3DS owners can download a free demo for the all-star fighting game from the Nintendo eShop starting on Sept. 19. This demo includes the same content and features as the Club Nintendo demo that select members will receive one week earlier, and can be opened from the Nintendo 3DS Home Menu a maximum of 30 times. A Nintendo Network ID is required to download either the Club Nintendo or Nintendo eShop demo.

Starting on Sept. 18, select retail locations will feature in-store kiosks with the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS demo for everyone to enjoy.

Unless I misunderstood what they said at the start of the live feed, they won't send out the emails until a bit later in the day.

Uh, did I opt in to emails? I think I did. I've gotten emails from them before.

I hope I'm opted in to receive emails...I got everything else covered but I usually turn down those due to spam.

Logged in to My Nintendo but it can't really do much due to "high traffic".

Yeah, I'm experiencing the same paranoia now... and, of course, Nintendo's website is broken as it always is when you most need it.

I'm guessing that there will be plenty of codes for us to share amongst ourselves even if some of us don't get an email, eh?

Haven't gotten mine yet. If I had to guess, I think Nintendo might be sending these out in "waves" so as not to completely crush their servers, maybe...?

At least, I hope so because I still haven't gotten mine! REFRESH REFRESH REFRESH

Oh man, the controls take a little getting used to.
I wish the demo had customizable controls because I just want to switch a couple buttons around.
