Probably a good idea on Nintendo's part. I wonder if they'll be 3D/polygonal like X/Y.
Is this the first time they've revealed a box art before any game screenshots?

I can't watch the video right now but, still excited to go back to this era. I never actually finished it so most of it will be new for me.

It's to be expected really. If you follow the progression of past generations. During the GBA era, we got a new generation as well as a remake of the first gen games (fire red, leaf green) Last gen we got two new gens as well as a second gen remake(heart gold and soul silver) Now we have another new gen so a remake is in order. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if we get another remake for the fourth gen (diamond and pearl)

That would explain the lati@s mega evos found in x/y's coding, but is that boxart implying a mega evo for kyogre/groudon? If so will that be patched into x/y
I'm more curious though about the effect this will have on other things in x/y, for example the trainer customization, will they have a player character based on the r/s characters and if so will they be adding new clothing options to reflect that?

@TranquiloYeah, plus there were numerous hints/references to the two GBA games in both X and Y, so this new announcement isn't unexpected at all.

Was that video really necessary though?

I'm happy to see the trend of "text on screen only" preview videos is continuing strong. I, for one, hate seeing what the games actually look and play like. Who wants to see THAT when you could have fonts flying around?
PS. I AM LYING I HATE THIS TREND.

Isn't this a little too soon? I expected next year. I feel it'll be rushed just like X/Y.

I love the box art! Another trip to the Hoenn region sounds like a good time to me.

I'd be shocked if it isn't polygonal like X and Y. X and Y isn't even really that 3D. It's mostly kind of a bird's eye view/isometric.

This is a tremendous waste of Nintendo's focus, money, and efforts. I'm disappointed.

@TheOldManFromZeldaIn a way I kind of agree, but what else is Game Freak gonna do? At least this'll be a big seller.

@TheOldManFromZeldaTechnically though Nintendo isn't making it since GameFreak isn't owned by them, nor is the Pokemon Company which oversees the marketing of all things Pokemon. Besides, it's like @TriforceBun mentioned, what else is GameFreak going to do? Ironically, I just bought Pokemon Y. As if, Y did I just buy a Pokemon game when there is another one right around the corner... pad bun, I know. @anon_mastermindHow exactly did X/Y feel rushed?

@TriforceBunDrill Dozer was a solid game. A pity that we don't get many efforts like that from GameFreak...

@Tranquilo one could argue that they should be putting less effort into the next gen six game so they can work on making gen 7 the best it can be. Still, people didn't really complain when Gold got remade right? I know this isn't everyone's favorite game but it falls in line with what they've done before.

@PogueSquadronI'm not a Pokemon veteran but I don't think Pokemon games have characterized by being radically different than each other. Obviously there have been tweaks to the formula and the battle system but there hasn't been a Pokemon game 9 (sequel) that has departed that much from the previous game.

@Tranquilo outside of the Luminose City glitch, the fact it didn't launch with poke transporter, that rather nasty GTS glitch, and the still unfixed fiasco with the mystery egg, some mega evolutions who are just unbalanced Let's see here, there are some absolutely atrocious framerate drops in the game (this is the first time I've noticed these kinds of things on my own, basically whenever I have my charizard go to it's X mega evolution the framerate seems to take a small hit and later when I went to compare the models on the pokedex to see if there was something I was missing I saw that megazard X is just atrocously choppy compared to regular charizard (who has a really smooth model I must say which makes it more jarring) Oh while we're talking about presentation I love the 3d models they gave to all the npc trainer-no they just got a bunch of tacky 2d cut-outs... well at least all the important people like gym leaders with 3d mode- nope, seriously that's just really stupid the entire game feels like it needed another 3-4 months of just fine tuning, it isn't as bad as mk7 but it is pretty bad.

You know…I've been hearing a lot of bad stuff about Mario Kart 7 lately. Like, that it's unfinished, etc.
Outside of the lack of a ton of NEW stuff (of which nearly every MK game is guilty of), and the Wuhu glitches (which were patched), what the heck is the big problem? I thought it was a very solid MK game overall, with perhaps the best set of courses in the series.
