I kind of want to bite on Jeopardy (because we always play it on Wii) but I have some reservations. With the exception of resolution, everything seems kind of like a step back from the Wii version.
We've played it a ton on Wii already, so I feel like I'd probably be wasting my money if we just get a ton of repeated questions. You also can't use Miis, and I think that's part of the fun. The characters just look more generic and less customizable. The Gamepad implementation looks kind of bad. I'm reading that it doesn't zoom in on the letters or anything when typing (maybe it just clones the TV screen?). I think player one HAS to use the Gamepad, which is disappointing because I find it easy to just use Wii remotes (which the second and third players have to use). Why not get more creative with it? Can I write my name in for the display on my podium? Not sure.
Just iffy on it. It's a shame because I'd love to just have Jeopardy downloaded onto my system in HD....but this version just rubs me the wrong way.
The DS version is fun. It's a solid match-3 puzzler with a good Pokemon collection twist, and I like it a lot more than so many mobile puzzlers of today that completely just fill the screen with junk and never end.
Does anyone have any experience with Pure Chess? How is it? I haven't played a proper game of chess in twenty years or something, and I will definitely suck at it, but seeing Pure Chess kind of makes me want to take it up again. Sitting around on the couch with a cup of tea and a game of chess just seems so inviting.
I don't know how easy or hard it would be for you to get the cartridge, but if you can, you might be better off getting Clubhouse Games for the DS. Not only does it have a well done game of Chess available, but also 40 or so other games you can play. Contains multiplayer too, with just one cart!
@GameDadGrant But Pure Chess has cross-platform online multiplayer, which is pretty sweet, and more useful for someone like me who doesn't know anyone with a DS IRL. If I ever decide I'd be a worthy opponent to anyone but a wet sandwich, that is.
@Secret_Tunnel I think that's kind of silly. We have an app that can store all these Pokemon now, so it would be pretty cool if multiple pieces of software could talk to it. When everything's interconnected I think it gives people more of an incentive to go out and buy new things.
DS multiplayer is basically ruined by the fact that modern security standards aren't accepted. I would love to play Clubhouse Games online but can't without a huge hassle. And, of course, it's on the way out on May 20 anyway.
