Is Minish Cap really that beloved, anyway? I mean, it's solid, but it's one of the more forgettable Zelda games, IMO.

Whereas I'm always going to remember Kid Icarus Uprising, for its cast, challenge, and creativity!

I dont' love it; I just voted for it having not played it. In fact, if Uprising had a better rep than it does, I would've voted for that. Without playing, all you have to go on is hearsay. Sorry, if Uprising got "screwed."

But then you mention hand cramps, and yeah. Not good.

@TriforceBun It could just be a case of more people having played the Zelda game. I've never played either and just chose the Zelda game since it's more appealing to me.

The unfortunate thing is that not everyone played all the games. I think the results would be a little different if everyone had.

I've played both. Minish Cap is superior. As I've said about Uprising before: the controls are a mess, flying is too short, and the on foot portions are too long and boring. Minish Cap wins.

Yea, I've played both and Minish Cap won fair and square in my book.

I love Minish Cap and Uprising, but it's no competition in my book. Uprising is my favorite 3DS game and one of my top 10 favorite games. I understand why some people may be put off by the controls, but they were completely fine for me.

I'm not actually that disappointed, Uprising's controls are some serious hurdles to get over. I loved the game, and it eats at me that I only got maybe 70% of the challenges finished...but I don't know if I'll ever go back to it because it's such a hassle to play. I'm never quite 100% comfortable playing on a portable, but Uprising is the only game I've played that actually caused significant discomfort. If any game could use a Wii U port, it's Uprising.

And then Minish Cap is legitimately a pretty great game.



Very interested in how LBW vs. LTTP goes. Same with Metroid Prime vs. DKCR.

Yeah, I concede that KIU is pretty unorthodox…but look at that bracket up there! So much Zelda already, would've loved to see a shake-up from the upstart Uprising.

And heck, I think KIU would've had a better shot against LA next round than TMC. I think most people that love TMC would love LA even more.

I agree with this. Uprising is a really charming game, but it's one that I'd rather watch than play. And it's another case where you could have addition by subtraction: it would have been a better game without the on-foot levels, and stuck to just the flight stages.

Yeah, I'm pretty much with Nate and T-Bun on Uprising. For variety, it would have been nice to see Uprising break through. But there's no denying that the controls are controversial and, really, the series as a whole is too. I understand that and I'm not mad about it. I'm happy to see that it eventually rallied and put up a good fight. But it lost fair and square - and it lost to Zelda. Sure, maybe not the most distinguished Zelda, but still one that's generally recognized as a great game. And I like Minish Cap too, so it's not like it lost to an unworthy game.

I will say this in defense of Uprising, though: Handcramps aside, I do think Uprising shows that Kid Icarus, as a series, can do things that other more popular Nintendo series can't do. I've never played a game with quite that much irreverent exuberance, and I've definitely never played a Nintendo property like that. My hope is that the controversial control scheme of this particular game doesn't overshadow the potential of the Kid Icarus series going forward. Sometimes I get a hint of sniffiness from people who don't like Uprising - not in this thread, but definitely from critics when the game came out - as if it should be self-evident that there's no cause to make a Kid Icarus game instead of (insert favorite Nintendo series here). And I think that attitude really sells the achievement of Uprising short. If Uprising did nothing else, I think it proved that there's life in Kid Icarus and it'd be a shame to put that back on the shelf.

Oh, and while I agree that the flying sections are the best part of Uprising, I like the on-foot sections, too. And I adore Light vs. Dark, which is all on foot.

This place sure does love Zelda, though.

Made Kid Icarus just needs like 5-6 more installments over the next 10 or so years to really turn the tide, hmm? I mean, without as many Zelda release as they're've been, there's no way that we've had that many up there (though I guess you could argue that there are 9 Mega Man games on Nintendo Consoles, and only 2 of them are in here, so "HMM.")

So whats the deal with the handcramps? Why do they occur? Does the game 'reward' you for unorthodox controller holding? I know a lot of people talked about "The Claw" with Monster Hunter, and to this day I still have no idea what the Hell they were talking about. I never even came close to holding the GamePad or the CCCPro any different than any other games. Mega Man X, however, I would curl my index finger around and rest it on the A button so I could dash almost CONSTANTLY. Well not constantly..but close!

Does it just wear on you after a while, like an Olde School shoot 'em up? Life Force (after about 6 hours) has my hands barkin', and the last time I played Zelda straight through I had to rest a bit (for what its worth: 4 hours, and also on the 3DS). NES Remix gives my phalanges a beating though, too.
