VC version is defnetly better than original N64 in my eyes, because A) it's probably cheaper, B) you don't have to fight with a flimsy N64 stick. Of course if you're a collection purist who likes gaming on original consoles, then you might disagree, I dunno.

If you instead meant VC vs 3DS, it really depends on what you value more. VC version is probably easier to control with Classic controller or GC controller, than the circle-pad scheme on the 3DS version. Also if you want a bigger screen, VC has the goods.

3DS version has shinier graphics, a game suspend feature, and gyro controls in addition to the default circlepad. It also has a '3DS mode' version of the campaign with slightly tweaked difficulty/design specifically for the gyro controls.

I think battle mode has a few more options than the N64 original, but it's still local wireless only which stinks.

@Shadowlink Well, I didn't say I don't own it. I already own the N64 cartridge so buying it on VC wouldn't be cheaper than $0. I also have the 3DS version, a digital download I got for free from a Club Nintendo promotion. And I like the N64 stick better than modern sticks, and with a little ceramic grease, it doesn't wear down, so problem there. I just wasn't sure if the VC version fixed/changed anything that would make it significantly better. Sounds like it doesn't.

How dare you put Pokemon up against Banjo! How dare you make me decide between two of my favorite games of all time.

(1) Super Mario 3D World (Wii U) vs. (8) The Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass (DS)
(4) Wario Ware, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! (GBA) vs. (5) Tetris (NES)
(3) Donkey Kong '94 (GB) vs. (6) Metroid: Zero Mission (GBA)
(2) Chrono Trigger (SNES) vs. (7) Pushmo (3DS)

(1) Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (DS) vs. (8) Mega Man 3 (NES)
(4) The Legend of Zelda (NES) vs. (5) Perfect Dark (N64)
(3) Resident Evil 4 (GCN) vs. (6) Star Fox 64 (N64)
(2) Pokemon Red/Blue (GB) vs. (7) Banjo-Kazooie (N64)

I haven't played any of the games in 3 and 2 apart from Pushmo so I don't really want to vote there.

There isn't much to fix about the N64 version. Controller issues aside where applicable (for some folks), the game is stellar.

@Pokefreak911

..and NOW we expect you to change your name to "Banjofreak64." I thought I knew youuu..

Ah, sorry, just assumed you didn't already have it

Yeah if you're happy playing it on N64 (or even 3DS), by all means go nuts. It's a great game. Incidentally the first N64 game I ever owned.

@Mr_Mustache
It's such a hard decision because both hold a place in my childhood and both are absolutely brilliant in every way.

Lucky for us, I kept a sampling of Kris' comments in a Barbasol can.

"Tetris: is it the definitive copy of the game? Its the one I've played most so 'yes.'"
"All the Mega Man games blend together, so this was sort of a vote for Generic Mega Man."
"Can't let you do that Star Fox. RE4 - Too good."

See. Life finds a way.

-Hmm. NES Tetris is sort of an odd pick--I consider the GB one to be the original, and thus the most innovative of the series. Gotta give it to Wario in this case.

Game Boy Tetris actually didn't have enough votes to qualify and had a lower score than the NES version. But also, I assumed the NES version came out first (although I can't find a definitive answer on that) and my rule was always using the version that released first.

@Jargon

Well, the original ain't made by Nintendo, really. But Tetris is Tetris. To me, voting against Tetris is like voting against Chess.

@kriswright

Well of course I know that! I was playing Tetris on PC at birth!

@Jargon

Sorry, that was more rhetorical. I assume everyone here knows the history of Tetris.

No but seriously I cleared four rows just as the doctor was slapping my butt.

That's adorable.

I launched the rocket back when I was a sperm swimming around my dad's testicles.

Why oh why was Phoenix Wright up against my favourite Mega Man game? WHYYYY? I LOVE Phoenix and company!

LoZ vs. Perfect Dark was a tough call, but since it's not in my Top 5 Zelda games or anything, it was easier to stomach voting it off this early.

(3) Resident Evil 4 (GCN) vs. (6) Star Fox 64 (N64)
(2) Pokemon Red/Blue (GB) vs. (7) Banjo-Kazooie (N64)

A1. No brainer. I didn't care for Phantom Hourglass and I adore Super Mario 3D World.
A2. Tough pick, but Tetris held my attention longer than Wario Ware (even though I think it's a blast to play).
A3. Zero Mission by the slightest of margins. DK94 was fantastic, but Zero Mission made the original so much better, if that makes sense.
A4. I like both games, but Chrono Trigger is more up my alley and is more replayable in my book.

B1. Mega Man 3, and it isn't close. It's arguably the best NES Mega Man.
B2. I think I picked this purely for nostalgia purposes...I have memories of opening The Legend of Zelda at my birthday one year. Plus I'm not a big fan of FPS games (Metroid Prime aside).
B3. This was no contest. Star Fox 64 was fun, but Resident Evil 4 was, and is still, one of the greatest games ever made in my opinion.
B4. I struggled with this one. I played through Banjo-Kazooie at least three times and enjoyed it, but I put much more time into Pokemon Blue and enjoyed it more...so Pokemon, but not because Banjo-Kazooie is bad.

Also, issue: why is this the Zebes region? There's only one Metroid game in the bracket and it's not a high seed.
