January 2, 2014 - This week's Nintendo download is...light on content. There is just one new Virtual Console game on Wii U, which is Capcom's Mega Man X2. The 3DS just gets a demo for Bravely Default. There's still a sale on all Atlus titles in the 3DS eShop as well. There's sure to be other updates, so check out your favorite digital storefront today at noon eastern.
Still...the news post Nintendo made had all of last week's games listed too. So I could have made the post longer, but it would have been repeated information. So bump that!
Is the eShop ridiculously slow for anyone else? I've been downloading the BD demo for ten minutes now, and it looks like it's maybe 10% complete, if that. My internet is slow, but not THAT slow... EDIT: yeah nevermind my phone was auto-downloading some crap. eShop's fine.
Why are we calling it a demo? I was under the impression it was its own stand alone chapter that will tie into the real game, even including character stats and such. No?
I kept myself pretty in the dark for this game, so I had no idea it had a job system. I'm having a hard enough time trying to decide what jobs to pick just from what's given, and judging by the job wheel there are still so many more jobs to unlock!
@carlosrox It's more like a stand alone collection of sidequests that don't seem to be connected to the main game. By doing certain things in the demo you earn sets of items that you're allowed to carry on into the main game, but any other items, character progress, equipment or stuff built in the village will be lost.
EDIT: Unless the demo you guys are getting is different from the one I've played, in which case I'm talking out of my ass.
@r_hjort Yeah I spent like two hours with it already...there's really no plot to it.
It goes give you a solid look at the job/battle system and general progression feel of the game. Very old-school Final Fantasy feel overall with some neat social bonuses.
I feel like I stole from someone for getting the Bravely Default demo for free. I've played this more than I've played other digital games. I LOVE it and can't wait to get my hands on the full game.
I'm glad to hear you guys enjoy it, just like I did. It's bitter sweet in a way, since I get the feeling we better enjoy Bravely Default now, before Square starts crapping out yearly sequels full of paid DLC and ruin the first game by association.
Yeah it's super fun, and it's pretty challenging, I got killed in my first battle by some life-sucking imps! I guess this section is pulled from somewhere in the middle-ish of the game because you're not fighting wimpy slimes.
The battle system is going to take some getting used to, but I liked what I played of it. The high risk / reward thing is very interesting for a turn based battle system. It seems like your four characters are already aligned towards a certain class, and none seemed to be White Mage (no staff item in my inventory) so healing was sort of an issue that I was more willing to bitch about than actually do anything about. The street pass stuff seems interesting, as does this little village thing that takes real world time to fix up/improve/whatever is happening.
