I'm expecting to be disappointed on the Wii U front. I guess I'll be disappointed by 3DS as well because I've lost hope in DQ7 coming to America.

One thing I really like about the directs is the short lead-up to them. Spring 2014 probably means we will be seeing more about DK and Kart. Not sure what there could be on the 3DS front.

I'm looking forward to this Direct. Didn't Iwata say he'd do something drastic if the Wii U underperformed this season, or was that just a rumor? I imagine Nintendo might be getting desperate at this point and will want to show off some big guns. At least, I hope so. DKC is a given, and MK7 probably too. I still feel like X is an eternity away, although we may see a new fighter in Smash Bros. I'm not sure what's coming out on the 3DS front--maybe Layton vs. AA?

@StephenBravely Default for sure. I wouldn't mind not getting much so that I have time to clear out a few games. With Reggie teasing Metroid at the VGXs, I hope we get something on that.

Not to be a downer here but keep in mind the focus is software releasing in Spring 2014. I seriously doubt a new Metroid game gets announced and releases by then. I wouldn't even count on Smash Bros being talked about in any great capacity.

@StephenYeah but this wouldn't be the first time Nintendo pulls a surprise on us. I'm definitely not getting my hopes up for it but Reggie's tease still has me excited at it being announced soon.

I imagine it'll be big on DKC info, which is fine for me. Hopefully not quite as spoiler-riffic as the Mario one, though. I dunno. Even the less good Directs have been pretty fun. Best not to get the hopes up too high, because these can go anywhere.

@shinrileyI doubt it. They obviously have more than just DK and MK7 coming, otherwise it'd look really really bad. Shouldn't this basically be the equivalent to the amazing Direct we got at the beginning of the year? If they're smart they'll showcase new footage of basically every game we know about at the very least, even if they're further from release like Smash or X. There probably won't be many major Directs until E3 (maybe one or two more) so they need to throw us some bones. We also need to know what's going on with the Yoshi game. I assume whatever it is has seen some kind of overhaul. I'd hope for a new game reveal or two, or at least solid hints or confirmations for E3 appearances. Maybe a DLC announcement? Either way Nintendo should stop fucking around here soon. It seems this Direct is coming early or something because I expected a New Year's Direct to show us a bunch of new. Would love to see MK8 locked in for Spring. Btw, saying a Direct will be about a specific period of releases has never stopped them from announcing new stuff. You just can't count on it.

As I said in the OP, last time they specifically said: "We will share new details on previously announced software for the 3DS launching through early 2014." This time they don't say anything about whether the software has been announced or not so I think that gives us hope. That said, Carlos is overhyping as usual.
