I think this is a good move, Mario will definitely push more sales than Nintendo Land. If there is any game Nintendo could lean on for support it would be NSMBU. They squeezed as many sales out of the standalone game ast they could. And when new owners set up their console and see how much fun people are having with Nintendo Landon Miiverse, they can go out and buy that game at a good price (or get it from the eShop).
I'd like to see what type of Black Friday deals will be put together with this bundle. I seriously doubt this bundle will be ignored during the Christmas rush.
Does it include Nintendo Land too? That's what the logo on the top left is I imagine. These bundles are great value.
Holy cow that is amazing!
And I want a white Wii U... and... and... well Skylanders are cool as hell (although I told myself I never wanted to go down that collection road... last thing I need is shoeboxes full of actions figures... I'm trying to save money and de-clutter my life dammit!, DAMMIT!)
@Mop it up I'm not really against the Basic, 8GB or 32GB are both essentially nothing, you're going to have to buy a HDD no matter what if you want to download games instead of buying them on disk. The one thing I do like in the Deluxe is the charging cradle.
@deathly_hallows There's also the Digital Deluxe promotion, where you'll get $5 for every $50 you spend on the eShop. It only has 14 months to go though, so that won't be a point for much longer. So the Deluxe is definitely the way to go for those interested in digital.
I stashed away my charging cradle, but I do use the GamePad stand. It's nifty to have in games like NSMBU, where I can have it in front of me, ready to quickly tap out some boost blocks.
@Mop it up Yeah 10% back is pretty hot, after you buy 2 or 3 retail games you could get an eShop title or a couple of VC games... I just wish the Deluxe came in white!
@Mop it up Yeah... after battling the smudges on my black 3DS XL I'm ready to call it quits on black consoles/handhelds... I mean it's not a huge deal I can just imagine that the black wug is very finger-smudge prone. If the right bundle comes along I'll still get black, but hoping for a white.
@deathly_hallows Interesting. I find that my white Wii controllers show smudges and dirt more than my black ones... though all colours show it because they all are topped with a glossy surface that soaks up prints and dirt like nobody's business. That wasn't a good choice for something that gets held.
I've had a really cynical attitude towards "kids games" in recent years but I must say stuff like Disney Infinity and Skylanders looks fucking good. I'll always respect games that seem to be made with effort and care. Plus, what kids like should actually attract me, I'm just a big kid and I hate to think my soul is dead. I like to maintain that childish demeanor.
There's no denying my Peter Pan complex and me looking so young all the time doesn't help that. But I'm rambling now.
Legitimately interested in these games I'd usually callously write off as shovelware kid shit. It makes me happy knowing kids still find magic in Nintendo systems. And Mario must drive kids insane. I mean, I feel like a giddy little kid again obsessing over Mario like this and being unable to wait and counting down the days. I miss being able to play games with my bros and friends, I've been to used to solo gaming, playing with headphones, etc. It's all been very exclusive for years now and I've forgotten what it's like to just sit and watch people play games with enthusiasm. I feel like its a lost artform lol. The artform of social couch gaming. I did play Nintendo Land with my bros but it wasn't the same (maybe I've just changed since then) as the last few weeks where I was more than happy to just watch a friend play GTA5, and that same night we played NSMBU. I was cynical and didn't even wanna play, my buddy twisted my arm. Then I shut the fuck up and got put in my place when we started playing. And their excitement (they don't play games as much as me anymore and certainly not Nintendo stuff) and appreciation surprised me. I like the NSMB series but still consider them sort of lazy. But playing that night really opened my eyes some more. So now I'm just dying to play SM3DW multi. Hopefully my bros actually play it with me.
Sometimes I just forget that I started gaming AS A KID, and had to take turns playing with my brothers. And we'd watch each other play all day. Like the day we got Mario World. We played all. fucking. day. Man do I hope to recapture that with 3DW.
I completely agree. The fact that they mixed the Mii universe with Nintendo franchises was a pretty smart tactic, at least I thought it was.
It's too bad that casuals don't see the value in the system but there really isn't anything to get all excited about. To them it's not anything technically new. They see a HD system with a second screen. Both types of technology are already out there (360/PS3, 3DS, iPad). Of course, we see it from a more detailed view which makes the product more valuable to us. Honestly I've put more time into Miiverse LURKING than anything else on my WiiU.
Skylanders is a childs basic Diablo type game. At least that's how i've always looked at it as and it plays like it too. Skylanders has a bunch of potential andd I really hope Activision expand on it. From what I hear, Swap Force is already a massive improvement over previous games so there is hope.
