"As wide as the world is, I am the only boat upon it who can speak the words of men."
- King of Red Lions
This episode brings you a uniquely formatted change of pace, somewhat. First off you'll hear DrFinkelstein, Ninsage and another newcomer, Hero_Of_Hyrule. That's the third new guest in a row! Awesome!
This time around, instead of doing a Now Playing series of discussions the guys tackle a Group Review-like-like discussion of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker considering the HD Remake released just in the past handful of weeks. Then with that wrapped up, the gang hits upon some key topics from the Nintendo Direct held on October 1st.
A big thanks to Negative World's creator, Zero for the intro and outro themes. The interlude music is from The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker of course!

Totally get what you're saying about Mario Party: Island Tour. Local multiplayer is the best, no question.
The point that others are making is that local multiplayer isn't an option for a LOT of us and since it's not renowned for it's stellar single player experience, perhaps an online option would be have been a decent substitute.
In short; I will have no one to play this with. Download play or not. *sadface*
EDIT: feel silly for picking out a mere 2 minutes from an otherwise sterling podcast. Good work, as always, guys.
Haven't listened yet, but I'd rather have an online Mario Party that isn't "the same" as a local game than no multiplayer at all. It makes way more sense with a portable system IMO, since you're less likely to even play local multiplayer at all.
Once you get Voice Chat in there, the experience is still amazingly fun. We'd still get to trash talk each other. Look at all of the hours we've all enjoyed playing Mario Kart together.
Don't feel silly for the post. I'm happy when anyone posts anything about the podcast. The discussion and feedback is the other half of the podcasting process and both Joe and I really appreciate it.
I think that Nintendo gamers are less likely as a whole to be comfortable with voice chat gaming. I've heard lots of people, friends and strangers, discuss their apprehension towards voice chat in Nintendo games (like with Pokemon for instance) because they are shy to play online like that. I see this as different than say, long-time Sony or Microsoft fans who might have had more experience already with voice chat and thus feel uber comfortable and would have no problem calling me and my Luigi avatar a n00b during Mario Party play.
Still, Nintendo has to continue to offer it if they plan to make their fans used to this sort of thing.
I look forward to any further thoughts you have once you've listened to the show.
I wish I could go back and add (now that I've beaten the Earth Temple) that I don't mind the whole 'friends you control' thing nearly as much as I used to. Maybe not having to hear the songs a second time helps that much, I dunno. But I'm quite enjoying the Earth Temple and I suspect (hope) I will enjoy the Wind Temple more than ever.
Another solid episode, and another great guest. Hero of Hyrule, you done good! I don't honestly see it happening anytime soon, but it would be super cool to join you guys. Seems like a blast.
It would be cool for you to join us. What stops you? We can work out timing issues and what not. All you need is some kind of microphone (ideally in headset form) and Skype!
Ug still very far behind, just finished this one up.
HOWEVER... this puts me in the unique position to ask Joe a question...
You were clearly uber hyped about Sonic Lost World before release, and probably for good reason... the last few Sonic games before it had been pretty solid, and it looked good. However, it then released to poor reviews and such.
So my question is, have you played it, and if so, did it live up to your expectations?
I imagine you talk about this in future podcasts but I'm still a bit behind here...
The next few are already up, I'm just a few months behind in my listening, lol. Check out the podcast episode list here. You can also subscribe to it, of course.

The last one of the year was recorded this past weekend but editing on it has not budged because I've been so busy this week (holiday stuff and work). I have a special weekend planned with my girlfriend coming up so I will begin tackling it after that. It'll be out before Christmas for sure, as should the last 2013 episode of our other podcast, Negative World Euphonic, which celebrates video game music.
You can submit songs for it if you'd like at the Submission Thread. In that show we have the forums nominate songs they love based on themes. Then Joe and I pick some, pick others ourselves, and play/talk about them. We record those periodically as time permits.
Well, here's the situation. I have yet to play anything besides the 3DS demo of the game. I do not have a Wii U (yet) and that is the version I would buy first. If I loved it so much I couldn't get enough, I would strongly consider buying the 3DS version. Thus, it might be a while before I get to play this game fully.
That said, I did identify some flaws in the 3DS demo. It wasn't anything that broke the game, but, there did seem to be a number of odd choices related to how Sonic moves around in the world that I think would really decrease the fun factor.
As this image from an issue GamePro magazine tells us, fun factor can be a very important part of a game:
THAT said, you brought up the string of recent solid Sonic games. You must keep in mind that when asking MY opinion, I'm one of those crazy, half-wits who actually enjoyed games like Sonic Unleashed and Sonic and the Black Knight. I know, it's crazy. I must be some kind of weird bizarro gamer who loves bad games and hates good ones. But, seriously, my top 3 Sonic games are (in order) Colors, Unleashed and Black Knight. #4 is Heroes, #5 is Adventure... #6 is prolly Sonic 2 .... then S3+K.... I like Sonic games. SO, even if Lost World is like totally mega lame, man -- there's a good chance I will enjoy it.
Perhaps we can bump this thread in 10-12 months when I play the game
