Complete with Master Sword and everything! Whoa. I don't even like this franchise, but this piques my interest...!

Technically you are dressing up as Link, but close enough. -Zero

Also, those cat things that follow you around can dress up like the Mario Bros. if you want.

....megaton?

Neat! Then again, would the novelty wear off after seeing hundreds of Links running around?

This seems like pretty big news so I newsed it.

Newsed is totally a word, shut up.

@Abdooooo
Yeah, I think that will get old quick, but the cats dressed up as the Mario brothers is awesomely silly! Those mustaches.

@Zero
Perfectly cromulent.

@vids

So if I understand correctly, while Mario and Luigi dress up as cats in Super Mario 3D World, cats in Monster Hunter 4 dress up as Mario and Luigi?

@Simbabbad
Nintendo sure wants to take crossdressing to new places. Or maybe those cats are the animal equivalents to furries. Skinnies?

Oh, it seems it's not actually Link, but you can dress up your avatar in Link's clothes. Which...pfft, whatever!

It's cool that "Link" is still a lefty, though! Nice attention to detail!

@Abdooooo

Instead of 4 Swords Adventures, this'll be like MORE Swords Adventures!

I had to check the calendar to make sure this wasn't some sort of prank day.

This just reminds me of the desperate Nintendo of the GameCube years who slapped Mario (and to some extent Link too) into every game. This might not be a good sign.

@Mop it up

Who's to say Nintendo isn't desperate now? Have you seen the Wii U sales lately?

@GameDadGrant That's kind of my point... I don't like seeing this!

I think things were far worse back in the mid 90's, when they let Mario do all sorts of edutainment crap, and I doubt that was done due to any form of desperation. Having Link in Soul Calibur 2 or Monster Hunter isn't anywhere near that sort of thing, as far as I'm concerned. If they can use familiar Nintendo characters or visual designs as a way to make certain third parties happier in an attempt at making their games sell better on Nintendo hardware, I don't think that's such a bad thing.

This series has been so abused that I really have no idea if this is the first 4 or not. And if so, is it actually a new game or is this the iPhone 5 of the series?

@GameDadGrant @Mop it up Yeah but this is a 3DS game, and they're doing just fine there. I'd say what is more likely is that now that Nintendo has been getting involved in this series more (didn't they publish Monster Hunter 3 in the West or something?) they want to help Capcom turn it into a premiere brand in the West much like it is in Japan. And love it or hate it, the easiest way for Nintendo to get Nintendo fans interested in something is throw Nintendo IP characters into it.

@carlosrox It's a brand spanking new game.

Ya, I noticed that it didn't really "look" like Link but I didn't want to say anything. Anyway, call me when the inevitable HD remake appears on Wii U.

Ya, I know that there is a circle pad pro option but I'm not interested. And by the way, I'm way over the 3D/gyroscope camera debate. If they actually figure out how to use the camera even if it means sacrificing 3D, I'll be able to live with that. Let's face it, 3D is just a gimmick anyway, and now Nintendo seems keen to want to sweep it under a rug more than anything.
