    Serious question, why would anyone buy 3 Street Fighter IIs?

    I was thinking the same thing. I think some people disagree on Turbo or Super(wasn't there also a Super Turbo?), but I don't know why anyone would get more than one rather than just picking the one they like most and going with it.

    I foolishly got all 3 on Wii VC. First by mistake, second because that was the version I remembered as a kid, and finally the newest version I never played before. Couple that with SSF2HDT on 360 and the original on SNES I have bought that game 5 times.

    We all know that this is one of Capcom's infamous "tests". Capcom thinks that if Nintendo fans want Ultra Street Fighter 4 we'll buy all three SF II games. If we don't, then Capcom will see that as "the entire Nintendo community not caring about the Street Fighter series".

    Because each game plays slightly different than the other. And for fighting game fans, that can make all the difference. I think I've actually bought every single version of Street Fighter II on the Wii Virtual Console. SNES versions, Genesis versions, Turbo Grafix version...I gotta get 'em all!

    It's too bad that they didn't offer the Genesis version of SUPER Street Fighter II for this deal. That's the one with online multiplayer...!

    In other news, it's cool that Virtue's Last Reward finally made it onto the eShop. Like, a year after it hit the PAL eShop, and I don't even know how much longer after it was on the Vita's PSN shop. Better late than never, I suppose?

    Awesome to see Zero Escape, especially at $25. Now all we have to do is get around to playing 999...

    I just finished VLR, amazing game. At that price, can't go wrong. Just don't save your game in puzzle rooms.

    I know you are a big SF II fan, so what are the differences? I actually own and played the original SF II on the SNES. Correct me if I'm wrong, I believe Turbo is the same game only faster.

    What differentiates The World Warrior version?

    Of anyone who knows may answer.

    Thanks.

    "But she has a new hat!", basically. I believe you can choose multiples of same character, you have new colors and such for stages and characters, and maybe a few altered moves/animations. Oh and you can play as the boss characters I believe. World Warrior was very vanilla.

    Um, cool to see this. I may get em. I wish the SNES versions had better music though :( I grew up playing them but later on I realized how amazing the original arcade versions were. Hard to go back after that.

    The original Street Fighter II is IMPOSSIBLE for me to go back to after Turbo, and ESPECIALLY so after Super.

    Cammy isn't even in the other 2 games, BOO! (AND YOU CAN CHANGE COLORS OF YOUR COSTUMES.)

    I've never heard of Zero Escape. Is this something I should look into?

    It's the sequel to 999. Play that first if you haven't.

    @gamewizard65

    The original game, The World Warrior has only 8 characters to play as, for starters. The gameplay is slower than nearly any other version of the game, two players can't play as the same character in versus matches, combos are a thing that don't exist (yet), and certain moves do (and receive) more damage than they do in others. Some iconic character moves aren't even available in this one! Capcom hadn't perfectly balanced out the fighting moves yet, so while this game is certainly good, it's really rough compared to later versions.

    In Turbo: Hyper Fighting/Champion Edition, not only are players allowed to play as the same character in multiplayer, but now the "boss" characters are playable, building the roster from 8 fighters to 12. Some moves have been tweaked and the overall fighting system has been better balanced. The boss characters also have new moves as well. All of that applies to Champion Edition, but Turbo has all of that, plus new moves for most characters (Chun-Li can throw a fireball now! Ryu/Ken can do a Hurricane Kick at the peak of their jumps! Blanka can do a vertical Roll Attack!) and of course the game speed is waaaaaaaay faster. New color pallets for each character, and some new artwork for the character portraits, too...whee.

    Finally, in SUPER Street Fighter II, Capcom nearly made a whole new game. New moves were given to nearly every character (Zangief has way more throws, Ryu's "Fire Hadoken" and Ken's "Flaming Dragon Uppercut" are now standard, Chun-Li's fireball is now what it is in all later games, E. Honda has his "butt-stomp" move, etc), the combo system is in place, four new characters make their debut appearance (including fan-favorite Cammy), bringing the roster up to 16 fighters total. There is drastically different (and IMO, better) artwork for all character portraits, all-new voice work for all characters (now Ryu and Ken don't sound identical, Guile's voice has a much higher octave, etc), tons of new color pallets for each character, re-tooled endings, an amazing-looking (at the time) intro of Ryu throwing a fireball at the screen, and the soundtrack was completely re-done with different instruments and arrangements (though I think still MIDI). This game was a huge deal back in the day. At least for fighting game fans, ha ha.

    There was another version, called SUPER Street Fighter II: Turbo that never came out on SNES for some reason. It also introduced new elements, such as the return of far more speedy gameplay, a handful of new moves, and a new hidden character: Akuma. This game also introduced Super Moves to the franchise for the first time. There was only one per character, but it changed things dramatically when you played.

    Hope that helps/wasn't too much information!

    I wish we had SF4 on Wii U. I'm not a huge fighting game fan but I'd definitely throw down with you guys there.

    And where are the GBC/GBA games for the 3DS VC? Part of me would just say that the NES games would obviously sell more, but I feel like Nintendo didn't even give them a chance. After the ambassador program, I would've thought the next logical step would be to bust out games like Zero Mission and Fusion and others. I'll have to keep crossing my fingers. Thanks Ludist for always keeping us posted on these.

    Again, definitely looking forward to Zero Escape. Hopefully Amanda and I can muster through playing 999 on the DS (which makes us both want to fall asleep).

    @PogueSquadron

    There are a few GBC games on the 3DS VC already. They're just far fewer than the Game Boy offerings.

    I'd play Street Fighter IV with ya online! I might even get a Wii U just for that, if it happened. I wonder if Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and/or Injustice: Gods Among Us sold well on Wii U?

    Yeah, that's what I said.

    Yeah I forget how awesome SSF was. Too bad 4 took a shit on everything I loved.
