Alas our big fiftieth episode! I know it has been a while since our last podcasts from E3 and I, DrFinkelstein, apologize. We recorded this right at the end of June but personal and professional business has caused various delays. Still, I'm not in the business of excuses so lets just move forth and enjoy the show!
Episode 50 brings DrFinkelstein and Ninsage discussing gaming apparel, some great games being played, and then ending the first act with a fun Box Art Guessing Game! Act II finds your faithful hosts discussing what games would start truly rounding out their Nintendo libraries. It's a bit of fun wishful thinking.
As per usual, the theme music comes from Negative World's owner, Zero. The interlude music is from an obvious choice, Animal Crossing New Leaf for the 3DS! Check out InfinityWave's thread about his shirt designs here (Requires NW Account)
Please comment on the topics, the podcast, the guests, hosts, etc. on Negative World! You can also reach us through Facebook or Twitter. We'd love it if you went and gave us a glowing (but honest) review on iTunes also!
I hope so. I always feel such a horrible feeling when a podcast goes too long but I literally just had situation after situation that claimed my focus. This thing's been done with the editing even for at least two weeks. Episode 51 is recorded and will begin editing shortly while Episode 52 will be recorded this weekend. My point, content is still coming!
Thanks for the encouragement and excitement Koovaps. I love hearing from listeners.
I'll download and check it out. I listen to podcasts primarily when I'm in the car, so I'll set this up as something to listen to on my commute into work (and back).
Excellent podcast as usual, gentlemen! It was nice to have you in my ear holes again. I liked the talk about game apparel. Like Joe, I have a ton of shirts, nearly all of which are gifts. I wear them with pride! Unlike you guys, though, I much prefer Official Merchandise to knock-offs, despite how clever they may be. That's not to say I don't own a few, and I do like em a bunch. But I have seen some that I just don't care for how they use various properties. That said, there is real creativity out there, and Infinitywave is proof of that!
I know the content is over a month old, but it was nice hearing about the games being played. Animal Crossing does still get play time from me, but I'm down to 1 or 2 times a week. Those dang streetpass games keep me occupied lately, especially since I'm clearing 2 separate 3DSes. Those games are fun, though. La Mulana had me interested for a while, but I think I'll stay away for now. Seems like more trouble than it's worth.
Box Art Guessing Game was a fun diversion. And I liked that you didn't breeze through it. The discussion was worth it.
Lastly, I really liked the selections to pad out the library. If I'm not mistaken, Space Station Silicon Valley was developed by DMA Design, which later became Rockstar. Quite the pedigree! I played and liked the original, but only a bit. There were a handful of neat N64 games I wish I played more. Not sure what I'd add, really. A non-Mario Kart racer would be pretty great. I know an F-Zero game is well overdue, but I'd also gladly take a new Wave Race game. I didn't quite tear up Blue Storm like I did 64, but it was still great, and I'd love to play more.
Again, excellent job guys (David included!) and I'm glad to know there's more on the way. And while extra voices are always cool, you two are brilliant together. Keep on recording, I'll keep listening!
Thanks for the review-of-sorts Koovaps. I personally wouldn't call them knock offs just because that to me implies a level of negativity as if they were trying to pass as officially licensed Nintendo shirts but weren't. They are just Nintendo-inspired I would say and while Nintendo does have some nice shirts out these days, I think they lack the creative range allowed by freelance shirt artists. Definitely some of them stink too. Personally I never liked the Link-oln shirt on some of these sites where it's Abe Lincoln in a Link hat. Just feels too contrived. I do hope though that people go visit Infinitywave's thread. I've always been a huge fan of his work.
Episode 51 features more Animal Crossing talk but on a deeper level and mostly from Ninsage's opinion. It's nice because it's like the whole journey which started at my hype and led to Joe's acquisition of the game finally comes to a (possibly) final discussion. We're working on ep 51 now.
Glad you enjoyed the box-art game! We may do more in the future, particularly with guests. To your last point, I definitely put the feelers out there for someone to be on the podcast for episode 50. We were bummed it had to be just the two of us on such a significant number, but alas nobody stepped up. Which gets me thinking, when will YOU be on the podcast next hmm?
Yeah, knock-offs was a poor choice of words. I even knew that as I typed it. As for being on the podcast, I don't ever recall a time that worked great, but perhaps it's time I tried to make it work. It would be very cool!
By the way, developers have done that "timed released of unlockable content" thing you were talking about before. Namco did it with Tekken 3 back in the day. After a certain amount of time (I forget what the stipulation was) unlockable characters just became unlocked automatically. Made getting certain characters much easier...but way more time-consuming, ha ha.
Listened the other night (Thursday?). I have a TON of videogame T-Shirts now, yes, way more than I had as a kid. They're seemingly everywhere. I really like my Cammy 1942 one. Got it off Capcom.com a few years ago.
Box Art challenge: Did REALLY well at this. I missed one of your later ones (and the Bonus one or two), but got the ones before it. Diggity dig. I don't even know if I own the ones I got either, woo.
And there's more, but I would have to go and check where I got them all. I'll have to check out some of those web sites in the OP for more shirts!
I was glad to hear the Pandora's Tower discussion. Ninsage, you can see how you I feel about the game in the review I posted here. In general, I would love to hear what everyone else thought about this wonderful game.
Box art trivia was fun!
And I still appreciate chapter breaks. I used them this time to jump around to different sections after listening the first time.
Did I lament something about the chapter breaks? I forget. I'm glad people enjoy them. They add time and can occasionally hold up the whole podcast releasing but I aim not to let that happen because I like them too when I listen to podcasts. It makes listening to RFN or Connectivity much nicer. I wish Radio trivia did it.
Did I lament something about the chapter breaks? I forget.
Oh, I didn't mean to infer that was the case; I simply wanted to let you know I still appreciate it! Because I've mentioned it already in past discussions.
It's ok. I didn't think you inferred anything. I just know I bring up stuff like that occasion so I didn't know I'd you were responding or just speaking. In the episode going up soon, I'll be apologizing for the ep 50 delay. For example.
