3DS 6.2.0-12U firmware update live - StreetPass Relay implemeted

Version 6.2.0-12U available via wireless Internet connection includes the following improvements:
Added support for the StreetPass relay feature:

-The Streetpass relay feature relays StreetPass data from one user that passes a Nintendo Zone to the next user that passes the same Nintendo Zone

-For more information on this feature, click here.
Improved system stability and usability:

-Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.

StreetPass relay points are located at Nintendo Zones all across the country. When a Nintendo 3DS user gets near a StreetPass relay point, it automatically stores his or her StreetPass data temporarily and then passes it on to the next Nintendo 3DS user to pass by the same relay point.

StreetPass relay points temporarily store StreetPass data for various games each time a Nintendo 3DS user passes by. This means you can get StreetPass data for several games at once.

Notes:
- You must have your 3DS updated to system version 6.2.0- 0U or higher to take advantage of the StreetPass relay feature.
- Your Nintendo 3DS must be in Sleep Mode (powered on and closed) to exchange StreetPass data.
- You will not receive any StreetPass data from the relay point if you are the first person to pass with a specific game's StreetPass data or if the relay point currently has your StreetPass data.

@GameDadGrant

That happened to me the other day with Pokemon X. Four of the five people I relayed with were playing it and the system asked if I wanted to know more about it. Cool feature.

I also got my first Theatrhythm StreetPass via relay. This could speed up puzzle piece collecting.

Yeah I found that too- At the same time I unlocked the 'same software in a row' accomplishment.

Which was weird because I'd streetpassed a pile of people playing Animal Crossing all in one hit previously and it didn't unlock then.

@Shadowlink

Maybe it only works for Pokémon right now? Because the three people I StreetPassed had been playing Pokémon Y.

The E-shop recommendation thing might be new, but the Accomplishment has been in Streetpass since day 1. It really should have triggered when the city was on it's AC binge.

Maybe people were playing American copies on imported 3DS units or somethin, and it got counted as a 'different' game? Dunno.

Is there any rhyme or reason why the same relay spot will work one day then not the next?

Also, sometimes Trish will get a green light and I will get nothing, or vice versa.

One time she Streetpassed with three people, and I grabbed 5 (from the same relay spot). What the heck??

@ploot

I went one day to McDonald's and got 5. Then the next day, I got 5 again from the same people. I went back like 5 days or so later and got nothing at all so I was a bit confused. I wonder if I somehow got the same 5 2 days in a row without the other people having went by or something. My StreetPasses in general are pretty hit or miss. I rarely get them just going out and then all of a sudden I'll get a bunch.

Yeah, Streetpass is pretty finicky. Drives me crazy! WHY WON'T IT WORK CONSISTENTLY?!?!

I'm hopelessly addicted to the Streetpass games I bought recently, so I've been going to McDonalds (and sometimes two different locations) everyday. Almost without fail, I get two different hits per location. I'll go, the light will flash and I'll greet 6 Miis, then I'll shut the system and it will flash again. Usually it's the same 6 Miis or mostly the same.

I don't really get why. Did they change how it works? Or are there two different relay points in each McDonalds? Either way it's good for completing my games! And I don't mind the trips because we bought a scooter and it's fun to drive around a tropical island on one of those (unless it's pouring). Plus AC, free Wifi and no one bothers me even though I never buy anything.

Still, I wish I had a better grasp of how Streetpass works. My wife often gets ones that I don't on her 2DS. I wonder if the antenna is better on the newer systems. Anyway, love the feature, it may honestly be the best thing about the platform. Hopefully Nintendo doesn't mysteriously drop it in the future like they have with so many other good ideas (Pictochat, Everybody Votes, worthwhile Mario Kart battle).
