No this is not the Onion, it's real life yo!

So, the quick version for those who don't feel like watching the video below is as follows. A 74 year old woman was driving her 10 and 4 year old grandchildren somewhere when she passed out at the wheel while traveling at 60 mph. The 10 year old quickly grabbed the wheel and steered the car to safety. When asked how he pulled this off, he cites Mario Kart. Awesome! Check it out!

Insert obligatory blue shell joke here.

...For some reason, that made me think of being able to bat blue shells and other items back and forth using a melee "attack" Zelda energy-ball-tennis style, and then that got me thinking about the characters having little basic swipe attacks, and if you hit each other at the same time, you get a little "clash" where you mash on the button or rotate the stick or something for just a second and whoever loses spins out.

...No idea why I'm thinking up these dumb ideas.

@GameDadGrant That's a good point. It does seem strange that they didn't mention her health.

I don't think she has narcolepsy, at least, not a bad enough case where she would pass out suddenly. If she did, why would she choose to drive- with her grandchild in the car no less? Maybe she is narcoleptic but is still able to drive and her condition worsened to the point where she shouldn't drive without her knowing.

Regardless, the lack of attention given to her seems to suggest that she is okay, so that's good.

I'd hate to see what would've happened if GTA was his game of choice.....

Well, considering GTA punishes you more for crashing, he probably would've safely pulled over instead of crashing into a ditch. :p

That, or ran down some cops to get his star rating up.

Depends on whether he was on a mission or not!

I seriously like how they showed Mario Kart 8.

@carlosrox

It *is* interesting that they chose to show footage from the one game in the franchise that isn't even out yet, lol! Maybe they just pulled that from YouTube or something, and that's the top hit when you search for "Mario Kart" now.
