I'm trying to remember, but I think all puzzles are available right away in the first Picross e. I did all the puzzles in the game and felt like I breezed through them fairly quickly.
I've only played a bit of e2. I went through Easy Mode and played a little bit of Normal. The difficulty seems to ramp up much quicker than in the first one. There are far less 5x5 puzzles in easy. There's also a new mode called Micross. You do a huge puzzle (80x80 I think) a smaller chunk at a time. I've only started the first one and it's fairly easy so far. We'll see how the later ones go.
I wish they'd just release one Picross game and have DLC for it. You could have game themed packs. "Animal Crossing it out, download a pack of AC puzzles for $1 or $2." They could do it for holidays or sporting events. They could have easy and hard packs. Big and small packs. Or they could just release a random pack every month. I'd buy them all.
I just finished the final puzzle in Picross e2. Overall my play time was 12 hours, which is 3 more than what I put into the first Picross e. There were definitely some difficult puzzles by the end, but a lot of easy ones as well. And the Micross were all very easy. So that was disappointing. I felt like this game assumed you played the first one, so hopefully the third one will have even more difficult puzzles.
