Nintendo's at it again to try and push eShop sales and this time, if you add $50-$99.99 to your account, you'll receive a promotional code by email for $5 in eShop credit. Add 100$ or more and you'll receive $10 back. This is great as major titles are finally starting to release on the Wii U starting with Pikmin 3 on August 4th.
I can't name off of the top of my head any titles that interest me... but I'm sure Nintendo will bring out some decent eShop exclusive games eventually. I'd spend at least 100$ on eShop credit throughout the Wii U's lifetime so this is useful.
Can't put digital purchases on my shelf in a sweet green case! I'm proof to Nintendo that people would actually prefer to pay MORE and get a case than download digitally.
Hmm, will definitely be spending $100 on digital purchases over time, but I don't know if I feel like spending that NOW just to save $10. I mean, logically speaking I probably should if I'm going to spend that $100 anyway, but I don't really feel comfortable with that. And having a huge wallet full of cash on the eShop might lead me to buying stuff I don't really need.
I might go with the $50 thing though. I'll most likely spend that much by the end of the year.
Hmm, speaking of, do point cards EVER get sales anymore? I remember finding Wii shop cards at buy 2 get 1 free before, that was amazing. But I haven't seen anything like this in years.
@Mr_Mustache I already have like 5? eShop games on Wii U, and will definitely get a bunch more in the near future. To be honest I think the eShop has been more interesting than retail on the Wii U... so far.
Just curious if anyone feels the same way this guy I know does.
He says that Nintendo seems desperate because they're paying us to "loan" them money. But then I brought up that Sony had a similar deal where if we spend a certain amount on games on PSN, they'd give us money back. He says this isn't the same at all because with Sony, we're paying for actual games, not just paying them for cash. If anything, I see Nintendo's deal as an advantage because in Sony's case, you have to spend money on games while with Nintendo, even if there's no games you may want at this moment for either 50$ or 100$, you can still take advantage of this deal. How is Nintendo worse? Then again this is someone that constantly bashes Nintendo over everything they do so I can't say I'm surprised...
Ooh, nice, works on the pre-paid cards. I've got a lot of money at Gamestop just sitting on my card waiting so I can put it towards eShop cards. Which I was going to do, but past-me was lazy and future-me doesn't feel like fixing it leaving present-me in a bind.
Have you looked at the Rewards Catalog for Gamestop? Theres some pretty awesome stuff in there! I've got a BUTTLOAD of points that have been accumulating since I got my Wii U. SCORETOWN.
@VofEscaflowne Well, Sony was paying you to spend the money, not just buy the credit, but otherwise that guy is pretty clueless. The Sony deal was better though because it was $10 for every $50 you spent with no cap. So if you spent $500, you'd get $100 back. I don't see how this makes Nintendo desperate though. Also, Sony would love to have the cash on hand that Nintendo does.
Remember, this promotion stacks with the Deluxe Digital Promotion. So when you finally spend that 100 bucks on the eShop, you'll get another 10 dollar activation code to use on your Wii U or 3DS.
Yeah, I realize that's the advantage that Sony has over Nintendo. But spending the money or buying the credit is essentially the same. The only way it could be seen as a disadvantage is that Nintendo might not have anything at all to purchase on the eShop which is quite frankly stupid to look at it that way. It will have content to buy throughout this generation. Of course this was one of this guy's arguments... that everything Nintendo releases is crap and not worth buying. I still don't understand why he bought a Wii U.
