I don't know about you, but one of the greatest reasons to play Runner2 levels more than once is to try them with new characters. The game has many with many costumes... but soon, there will be even more in the form of DLC!

Hey everyone! Ever since the launch of Runner2, people have been asking us if we planned on releasing any sort of DLC for it. Being the mischievous lot we are, we typically alluded that such a thing might happen and left it at that. Well, today, we're prepared to announce the impending release of the Good Friends Character Pack! It will introduce seven new characters to the world of Runner2, and we'll be revealing them a few at a time until the DLC hits Steam on... Thursday! And don't worry, console folks - a release for 360, PS3 and Wii U will follow!

Why not sign up for a (free) account?

Personally, I can't wait for Quote from Cave Story!

Hmm, they're adding some pretty cool characters, but I don't see myself ever paying money for DLC characters unless they play significantly differently than the original set.

I wonder if they will do DLC stages...

New characters is the furthest reason for me wanting to replay this game and is one of the worst add-ons a game can release as paid for DLC. Unless it adds new gameplay mechanics, which it won't, it feels pretty pointless to me. Ah well, I'm sure it'll still sell but I'm staying away from this.

@Zero

$3 for 7 characters is something I might be able to get behind... assuming I care about more than just Quote. And assuming that's what the end of the blog post was implying... No price truly confirmed.

Are these new levels at all, or are they just skins?

@PogueSquadron

New characters (and presumably outfits)

Agh. That's really unfortunate.

Unlockable costumes like this is my least favorite kind of DLC. I was shocked when they had costumes in Arkham City as DLC.

@PogueSquadron

They're a bit beyond costumes as they are brand new cameos in the form of characters. But yeah they are still characters and not levels or anything.

The rest of the characters.

A good list, but I can't get excited about just characters.

Came in expecting new DLC stages. Left disappointed.

So far nobody at Negative World seems content with the DLC being character based. Perhaps everyone should hit up Twitter to voice their disapproval. Otherwise, they'll think they went far enough and this sort of level of DLC will continue.

@DrFinkelstein

It's not that I don't like the characters, but I've already 100%'d the game. This doesn't give me incentive to play through it again.

@DrFinkelstein

I already did it when they announced it. Then some random guy replied to me saying that I should lighten up and that I don't have to buy it, etc

@DrFinkelstein I think whether this stuff sells or not will be the biggest message consumers can give, right?

I mean, I definitely support Gaijin in their efforts, and if others are interested, great... but I wonder how far character packs can take them?

I agree with all of you. Sales will show them a lot, but they are so active with Twitter and their blog, I think it could be effective too.

I think two new characters and a new set of levels would have been sweeter. Maybe five bucks?

@DrFinkelstein

Yeah I definitely would have been more interested in a character + level pack instead. Maybe themed around the world they're from.

@VofEscaflowne That's kind of what I was hoping this would be. A Cave Story level with its own Cave Story esque backgrounds and music....that would've been pretty cool. If it's just a reskin of the main character, then I'm definitely not plunking down money for it.

It stinks, because this used to be something that PC gamers could just tinker with on their own. I remember trying to model a character to put into Quake 3 haha. (PS I wasn't very good at it)
