July 4, 2013 - Happy Independence Day (in the United States) from Nintendo! Enjoy a lot of retro goodness this week, featuring Pilotwings on Wii U, three new Game Gear games on 3DS, and a couple of new eShop games. There's also a few sales starting this week on both eShops (check the link at the end of the post for more details), so be sure to stop by your favorite digital storefront for all the details at noon EST today!

    I'm waiting for the Pilotwings 64 to drop. Did that ever come to the VC? That's the one I remember loving. Wish I could play that.

    Did anyone see Nintendo completely botch the launch of Mario Bros on the VC on Facebook? They showed a picture of SUPER Mario Bros. I wonder if that will bite them somehow (people saying they bought the wrong game by mistake).

    It didn't, and I want to try it. I'm on the fourth stage in Pilotwings (which I couldn't do before because I never did figure out the controls for skydiving until yesterday) and enjoying it, but I can't help but wonder if I'd enjoy 64 even more.

    The only Pilotwings game I've played is the one on 3DS. How do the SNES and N64 games compare to that one?

    In other news, the Game Gear Virtual Console release of Vampire: Master of Darkness is apparently really, really good. Anyone play that before?

    Besides the 3DS version I've only played the N64 version, which IMHO is a million times better, with at least a billion times more content.

    Wait, you think the N64 version has more content than the 3DS version? That's not how I remember it (although they reused Wuhu for Resort).
