So I got a Streetpass hit on the train today and launched into the new games.
Streetpass Squad is pretty straightforward and could probably be done on Play coins alone. It costs 3 coins to hire one of your previous Streetpassees regardless of level, and different colours grant you different weapon types.
Haven't got very far into Streetpass mansion, but the intro and r_hjort's description was intriguing. IMO this will go better when the Spotpass relay system is up and running and you can get large groups of people together.
Gardening I don't quite get yet. That'll take more involvement.
But Streetpass Battle...glorious conquest!
. The person I Streetpassed brought with him another 300+ troops to add to my existing command, and I proceeded to invade the shit out of the neighbouring nation.
For a battle, each army is split into three sections and each section can be one of three troop types Cavalry, Archers, or Infantry- Conveniently also represented by scissor paper and rock icons so you can easily tell what has an advantage over which
. By looking at the makeup of the opposing force, you can adjust the three components of your own force to give yourself the best possible advantage. Once you've set your forces, you choose one of your detachments to send against one of your opponents which has been selected at random. Numbers and troop choice will factor into which side wins that battle. Repeat for the remaining two forces, and whoever wins 2 out of 3 rounds wins it all.
After overwhelming my enemy with crushing numbers, 10% of the enemy army then defected to my side and swelled my ranks even further
. Conquering the nation also yielded building materials with which I could expand my castle by sacrificing a number of troops (converting them to craftsmen). The exact purposes of upgrading the castle remain unknown to me at present but I'm sure it'll be helpful down the track.
Depending on what kind of Streetpass record the people you normally run across have, this game could be rather tricky or end up being ridiculously broken. I'm willing to bet later levels will ramp up the difficulty fast though- One of the accomplishments is to amass an army of over 1 million troops! Sounds like we might need them....
